I just went to a new psychologist today. She's so awesome!! After talking to me for just a few minutes she started guessing other things that bother me and quirks. She sort of diagnosed me as having elevated norepinephrine. . . and a form of temporal lobe ADD (but says I don't need to be on meds for it).

She said that my "cingulate Gyrus" is going too much like a hampster on a wheel. LOL

She also talked about my sleep patterns and says I have a sleep disorder.

She suggested I try Melatonin. I've heard good and bad about it. Anyone try it? I know it doesn't work for everyone; I'm just hoping it isn't a BAD experience for me.

Oh. . . we also talked about my fear of meds and she went through some meds that I would want to stay away from. . .one of them being antihistimines. So THAT'S why I can't take cold meds. . . she said that is like poison to me. . .not good with my elevated norepinephrine. Also, some antidepressants effect that and that's why some of those have been bad news for me.

I'm so glad she gets me. . .now I hope she can help me do better. I feel better already just talking to her once and hopeful we can make some progress. :)

Hi Faith,

I am so glad you found a good therapist, and it sounds like she will be a great help to you.

You can learn all about it here if you follow the link. My wife always tells me that you have tell people things at least 6 times before they hear it once, I guess this is no different.

I am sorry Faith, I don't mean to seem so snippy. I am tired and the forum discussions have run me down, and sent my b/p up pretty high. It's coming down, but I feel like I am crashing.

Anyway, I am glad that things turned out so well and you seem to be getting to the bottom of things.

I bet there is a diet you can go on that will really help you. Ask her about raw foods, and what food you could load up on to help you with this problem.

I do have a link on raw food so here it is:

It really sounds to me that this new doctor/ therapist is very thorough. You are so lucky to have found them.

I've used the melatonin, and it gave me a very restful sleep with very good dreams. I would still wake up maybe once, but I went right back to sleep and I seemed to be able to sleep longer. I had no side effects. If you're interested, try looking over one of Dr. Daniel Amen's books regarding brain chemistry. He talks about sub types of ADD and anxiety and has a lot of good recommendations for natural supplementation for this, including CBT. I was also diagnosed at one time with a possible sub type of ADD and elevated norepinephrine levels. His books have helped me a lot. I'm glad you found a good therapist who seems to know what she's talking about.

Would you like to make three guesses what book she had in her hand while she was talking to me?

Tht's right. . . Dr. Amen. I'm planning on getting either just the ADD or that and the Anxiety book.

I'm so excited. I really believe that I can get better finally. :)

Also. . . she used to have a PMS clinic so she's going to help me with that too. She knows of a pharmacist and a doctor that work together to hand mix hormones if that's something I need. It works much better than "the pill".

My neighbor came over tonight (she's the one that told me about her) and told me. This is all really exciting.

You're lucky to have found such a good therapist. That's great that she even works with compounding pharmacies for the hormones. I had that done years ago, and they do work better than the generic one size fits all pill.

I just started taken Melatonin, and it works for me. I used to take tylenol p.m. every night. But, I'm trying to do the natural things now.
Also, I've bought something called Valerian Root. It's an herb you can buy from Walmart in the vitamin section. And it's indicated simply for sleep support. I think it is great. It's all natural.

Hi Faith, Mary, and Brittany,

Faith thanks for saying that I wasn't snippy. But it is true. People to have to hear, see touch or receive communication at least 6-8 maybe 20 times before they say: ahh, I think I have heard of that... that's because we all have a gazzillion things going on in our minds, its hard for a foreign though to make it in sideways. LOL

I can't tell you how many times my Chiropractor has said to me take fish oil (liquid). He added you can mega -dose and it will not hurt you. After, 9 months where he told me at least 6 times. I went to our local Nutritional shop and got Carlson's Norweigan Fish Oil. In less than 2 days, my b/p made a significant move down. That was after taking heavy doses of many b/p meds (Diovan, Hydocholrot, Metropolol, Amlodopine, Niacin and Asprin) the best reading I could get was 160/103, BTW that was hardly a dent of difference on my pressure. When I mentioned it to my wife, she said: oh so you finally are using fish oil. I can't remember how many times I told you to get some fish oil. You never listen to me... :D

Mary, that was some great info on Dr. Amen, Hmmm very interesting name. Got to be something to it. Opps, my bi-polar is projecting from the mania side.

Brittany, you know what? TPM is something my wife has been trying to get me to take for quite sometime. I am so scared of pain killers and NSAIDS and what they can do to my heart, that I just block that out, but I have since learned that, Tylenol is one of the safer ones I can take. I may start taking it for pain at least twice a day.

Brittany, use the site link I provided:

<A HREF="http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 02F135785A" TARGET=_blank>http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 135785A</A>

It is a good starting point on learning about nutritional supplements, meds, and herbs and how they can work together or work against each other. Both St. Johns Wort and Valerian are not good if you are on many other prescription medications.

That site also has a link to their affiliate vitamin shop, that is also good. You can enter a symtom, illness or disorder and it will bring up 1 or more supplements that may be used for treatment, but then you should check the ingredients by clicking on the item to find the ingredients and check on the first site by entering either prescription med name or supplement ingredient or product name.

I am so glad that everyone here seems to either be on a good track, or is on a good track to better health. So keep on doing what your doing.

I'm not on anything else so we'll see how it goes. The Melatonin didn't help me last night but I only took 1/2 and I was sort of afraid to take it. . . so that kept me awake. Ironic huh? LOL

I'm going to try taking a whole one tonight.
