I used to be terrified of the dentist. I was 30, and had never had a filling done. I didnt mind cleanings too much, but still quit going at 18. At 30, I broke a tooth. I still didnt go. My tooth didnt hurt. When it started hurting, I put a temporary filling in myself that I bought at the pharmacy. (bad idea) I waited a few more months. Finally my temp filling fell out and I could feel the nerve and pulp moving inside my tooth. I almost passed out from the pain. I HAD to go to the dentist. I took one of my boyfriends zanax before I went. I was fine until I parked in the dentist parking lot. The zanax that had me so relaxed left me at the steps. I almost left. My dentist was amazing. He barely saved my tooth, but I never felt a thing. I told him I was petrified. I told him I wanted to throw up. I told him I wanted to run screaming out of his office. He made sure I never felt his needle when he numbed me, or a second of pain. He gave me some really great care. This guy is very young, fresh out of dental school, and cares about his patients. I had to go 3 times for him to fix my tooth. I had to go back for another filling last week. I went from no dentist for 12 years to 4 visits in 4 weeks. I no longer have major fear of the dentist, but I am still nervous. You have to go, you know you do. Remember he cant hurt you as much as a bad tooth! They are awful!!!!!

On the bright side....as someone else mentioned, it can be kinda relaxing. I fell asleep in his chair on my fourth visit. (good thing they suction your mouth, you dont have to worry about drooling!) You can do it! If I can go, anyone can...I promise!
