This is my third day on Lexapro. I feel like I'm restless and on my way to work this morning, I had a anxiety attack. Does anyone know how long this will last? I may lower my dossage. I'm on 10mg Lexapro

I broke my 10mg pills in half and I'm on Day 8 at 5mg. I'm working up the courage to go to 10mg. I'm getting a bit of side effects (headaches, feeling spacy, tired or anxious at times) but the anxiety has been generally getting better. I highly recommend half-dose for a week or so, then increase to 10mg.

I should of did that first.I was tired all week and slept most of weekend.I barley had enough energy to clean and cook for my family. I was also also nervous, shakey, and confused on medication. So I just stop taking the meds.I really need help but I'm scared to get back on the meds. Maybe I can learn how to fight this natural.

I broke Lexapro in half for a few days and had anxiety like never before. I'm not sure if it was all in my head (horrified to be on meds!) but I know that some anti-depressants can heighten anxiety. My counselor said sometimes it's "trial and error" which is so stupid cuz one bad experience and we are so done! haha :-)

But anyway, you are not alone. I've been trying some natural calming tea. Seems to relieve some anxiety for a portion of the day. Exercising seemed to really help as well. 20 mins of exercise for most people equals a normal daily dose of an anti-depressant.

God bless!

Well it has been three days since I've stopped taking the Lexapro.. I didn't like it. I thought I was going to die from side effects. I want to try to combat this natural.

Lexapro worked awesome for my anxiety/depression. I had minimal side-effects when starting..... the only troubles really that I had with the medication was coming off of it!

It takes a couple weeks for the drug to kick in to it's full effect. What you are experiencing is your regular panic, plus the scariness of having to take anything at all. I believe it is true, that none of us want to be taking meds, however, sometimes, in order to get some relief, we have to. Don't beat yourself up over having to take a medication. Don't over-analyze every different feeling you get while taking it either, just keep up with the positive self talk, you are strong, you can handle this, you want to get better and this is just temporary. Sometimes people are more sensative to even small doses, I agree with DarcyVS, about maybe a lesser dose, check with your doctor though. :)

I agree. It took 2 weeks for my anxiety to subside when first starting and there were days where it was high, but I believe I caused this, not the med. After 2 weeks I started to feel better and by 4-6 weeks I felt great. Since then I have had little to no anxiety. Lexapro works well for me and I have no shame staying on it as it keeps me healthy and happy. I suffered too long with anxiety to live like that again.

I agree with you Nole. When I started Lexopro, I was just waiting on the side effects. The 2nd night I took it I felt really calm, but after that it was down hill for like 2 wks for me. I was soo convienced that Lexopro was not the medication for me! I was having anxiety attacks again, and felt weird at times. I was told by a cousin that was on Lexopro too to just stay on it give it time, she said you just gotta get over that hill first. So I stuck to it, and little by very little I started to notice a difference. I've been on it for 2 monthes now and I feel soo much better than I did a few monthes ago. It took awhile, but we have to let it get in our system 1st before we get the full effect. I'm not saying that I don't get those anxious feeling at times anymore, but compared to me having a panic attack everyday, to maybe having one once a month, or just feeling anxious, I'd rather just feel a little anxious, & work through my panic attacks if I have any. Of course I'd rather not have any, but I'm working on it!

Stick with thew Lex Brandi. If your anything like me you'll feel even better at 4 months. It all takes time to level off.
