Adrenaline Burst for no reason
Have any of you ever been sitting doing nothing inparticular and all the sudden you just get this burst of adrenaline in your chest like someone just jumped out and scared you? I have had anxiety for too many years but this symptom just started friday and i have been in a state of high anxiety from it ever sinces. First occurance with Friday with friends, then Saturday afternoon then Saturday night (ended up in the ER and all test came back normal) then ok Sunday, another one Monday night and then again tonight. Its like now that it happen once I am just scared and waiting for it to happen again. So it does. I am terrified there is something wrong with me and I am going to die from this. Please tell me this is something someone else has experenced...
Dude, I feel your pain. For the past 7 months I too experienced those exact symptoms. I visited the er 5 times, visited 2 cardiologist and I even took a stress test and an echo- cardiogram. Guess what, I am fit as a fiddle. After all of these tests it dawned on me that these racing heart palpitations is just another manifestation of anxiety.
Hi Mrchris33:
I had these same feelings just last night. I just tried to calm myself down with my breathing and got up and kept myself busy washing dishes and doing laundry. I know what you mean about feeling like you're going to die. I never had these feelings before and they really scare me. I ended up in the ER last December from my heart racing and I couldn't slow it down for at least 3 hours. I too was told nothing is wrong, but when this happens, you can't think of anything else about something being wrong. Take care. Know you are not alone.

I have pretty much had a constant feed of adrenaline for about a month and a half now. So I can understand what you are going through. I am trying to make sure I eat well everyday and have started working out (as well as getting started with this program). I have had this in the past and it took a while to get better. Fortunatly, I know what it is and that helps - still not fun but better than thinking it was a deadly illness.
All my best. Hang in there!

Well it's helpful to know I am not the only one having these symptoms. It's just when something new pops up like this it's hard not to feel like you are going under! =) The only thing that is helping push these symptoms aside for me right now is taking .5mg of Lorazapam. I never would have gotten to sleep with out it last night because this specific symptom gets even worse when I am falling asleep. Hope it passes soon. I wish you all the best.
This happens to me too and it's hard to calm down when you're feeling these intense rushes. I usually get up and do something to distract myself, but that's not always easy to do depending on where you are when it happens.
I also have a daily occurance of butterfly rushes in the stomach. In the past five minutes, I've probably had about 4 or 5. I'm trying to talk to myself in my head and as soon as a flutter starts, I guess for lack of a better word, I push them back down with the self talk. Good luck to you!

Does anyone ever have feelings like when it's cold and you shiver? This usually happens when I have a panic attack. It also happens if I get scared real easy. Like a loud noise. I guess mine is adrenaline produced as well. I can feel the anxiety building up inside and if I can't get it under control then usually this happens. I get real embarressed. I think that's why I avoid things that cause this response. I hate it, I feel Like nobody else has this.
Can anyone relate?

One thing that can cause this is what they call a Pheochromocytoma or a tumor on the adrenal gland. This problem will give bursts of adrenalin and will drive you nuts. To check for this you pee into a bottle for 24 hours and they check for excessive levels of Catecholamines and Metanephrines. In my case I had 5 times the amount of adrenalin i should have had. Then they took an MRI and in my case the tumor was a big as a golf ball. Apparently size doesn't matter, if you get one of these things it will mess you up.
