College
I am 17 years old. I just started the program 2 weeks ago. I have a very hard time getting through every day. I know that the cause of my anxiety is college next year. I have worked very hard during high school and i feel i have to go to a good college. I know i am putting to much pressure on myself to leave home. I am very scared for college next year. My panic attacks have gotten worse the closer graduation comes. I feel as though i cant breath correctly. I get dizzy and feel like i hyperventilate. Can anyone relate to this? How do you help get breathing to normal?
To Sarah #23:
I recently started the program also and I have finally realized that I have been dealing with panic attacks quite frequently. (Before I started the program I thought maybe I had two panic attacks in my life!) In regard to the question about breathing, my advice is this: Listen to your relaxatiion CD a lot. It teaches you how to breathe the "right" way. The steps are also printed on the back of the first "carry along" card. As I write this to you, I also commit myself to working harder on these breathing steps because I can certainly use them too! Hope this helps you! Good luck!

Thank you for your advice. It is nice to talk to someone openly about anxiety. Remeber not to be afraid of panic attacks. They will in no way hurt you and you have the skills to get through them! I know this is easier said then done but it always helps to have a positive mindset. The good thing about having more panic attacks is that you can practice your new skills more often. lol. Well good luck also.
