Its not something I am contemplating, but the scarey thought still creaps in daily, "What if I got to the point where I actually did it" Around where I live I have heard of 4 in the past 3 weeks, so that just reinforces my scarey thought. As I say I am not contemplating it, but I have daily thoughts of it, In these depression questionaires they ask "Are you having thoughts of suicide" and I would have to answers yes I am, but not planning its fear of it.

As it says in our guidebooks, the time to start worrying about suicide is when you actually have a firm plan on how to do it and the thought of suicide is comforting to you. Thoughts of suicide are scary and I'm guilty of them too. But if you don't think you're going to do it and don't have a plan, then you're probably OK. Even so, it's probably a good idea to see your therapist and talk about this with them just to ease your mind. If you can stop the worry, you'll probably also stop the obsessive thoughts.

Hi Pear -
I've been struggling with similar thoughts recently. Searunner is right in that so long as these thoughts are disturbing to us they are more likely a symptom of obsessive thoughts than an actual urge toward suicide. If you're not seeing a therapist perhaps it's time to do so. Being anxiety and obsessive all the time is certainly wearing and getting some help will undoubtedly make you feel better.

I agree it is a fear like all the others are. This one is just much more scary so I think it effects us worse. My therapist told me everyone has irrational fears and thoughts. She said people with anxiety just tend to analyze the fear and obesess over it longer and harder than with someone without anxiety. You are ok I know you dont believe me but you are. You are not along in this. There are many more people than you would think suffering from this same fear and many like it. If there is anything you need let me know.
