Hi everyone... My name is Karissa and I'm a stay at home mom to 3 beautiful children. I have depression and anxiety. I bought the program just waiting for it to get here. I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm looking to meet new people. I don't really know too many people where I live.

One question I do have for any of you out there is. Do any of you end up where your blood pressure goes up when your having anxiety? I ALWAYS seem to get real nervous and worried when I go to the doctor.

Well I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Karissa

"White Coat Syndrome" is a very common malady. Many folks, myself included, experience an increase in blood pressure in the doctor's office.

I read my pressure at home and cross check my equipment with my doctor. The usual situation is to be walked down a hall to a waiting room and immediately have the cuff applied and pressure read. If you read the instructions on how to read blood pressure you will see that this is conducive to higher readings. Small cuffs on large arms will also increase the readings.

If you are concerned about your pressure, I recommend home monitoring.

Best Wishes

Welcome Karissa. Yes, my blood pressure is normally much higher when I see the doctor than it is at home. I have a blood pressure monitor and everytime I take it at home it is normal. But I have "white coat syndrome" and it goes up at the doc's office. It also goes up when I am under a lot of stress, but that's natural. I wish you well on the program, it is absolutely great! Bob.

Karrisa...My blood pressure used to go higher at the Doctor's office, also!!! Try taking some really slow deep breaths and imagining yourself at a beach, somewhere...This worked well for me...

Hi everyone thanks for the encouraging words. I really do appreciate it.

Ms. T Bones thanks for the advice I will definitely have to try that next time I go to the doctor. Being at a beach right about now sounds pretty good! I can't wait to get the program in the mail! I HATE having anxiety and depression. I'm on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg. I started that May 25th. Today I had one of those days where I just felt like crap. Had my doctor's appt. (got a bad knee so I have to start Physical Therapy). Then my blood pressure was up but I also was REALLY nervous going into the clinic. Then I just started crying for no reason. I'm very thankful that my husband is very understanding about everything. He is such a great support system for me. I would like to get to know a person more. I think that is part of my problem too. I don't have many friends where I live. I moved half ways across the state when I got married (been married for almost 3 years). No family (besides in laws) and don't know too many people. So if your interested in talking just let me know. Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great night!!

Karissa
