It is about 3 in the morning and I haven't slept for a couple of days now because I can't lie down for an extended period of time. It started about a year ago when I noticed that if I layed down on my couch in a certain way within a few minutes I started to feel a weird pressure in my head and it felt fuzzy, and everything from my chest up sort of buzzed and tingled and it made me feel really edgy and panicky and like I wanted to jump out of my skin. It was easily fixed though because I could just stand up and move and it would go away. I thought wow, that would be a nightmare if it happened when I lay down normally in my bed...well that nightmare has come true.
It is very hard to describe but I guess maybe a good way is to imagine being put in a headlock and the oxygen and blood being cut off to your brain a bit and the sort of sensation that would create. It is a pressure and a tingling, and it makes you feel so incredibly anxious and on edge and jumpy, and absolutely impossible to sleeep. Also when I open my eyes it seems the world is very slow to refocus, unusually slow.
Over the past two weeks I have been to the doctor's twice over a similar sensation I have had in my stomach and esophogus and throat. It happens when I eat generally. Even though I have no heartburn for the most part the doctor thinks it may be acid reflux and I am having an upper GI test tomorrow where you swallow a milkshake and they check out what happens by XRay. I feel they are related in some way. For over four years after laying on my back for an extended period of time when I take a deep breath I feel a pressure near my esophogus area, its like a wheezing. Have been checked multiple times by the doctor for this and they never seemed concerned.
I feel absolutely ridiculous going back to the doctor a third time but its really scary and I can not sleep! I can't even prop myself up because the sensation still happens. Its so very frustrating because a few nights ago I was fine!
Any input from you guys is greatly appreciated...again I would love for this just to be anxiety...and God knows I have created some potent symptoms in the past...but I just don't know how it could be.
Any ideas about what may be going on?
Thank you so much
Everybody please help, really scared....
Hi Priv,
I hope you find your way to better health. BTW, I've been there.
I hope you worked the program and found that it helped you, and if work the program again; it should help you again.

I too get some strange sensations when I lay down !! Especially when I'm laying flat on my back, which has always been the way I'm most comfortable otherwise. I get feelings of pressure in my chest and also a tingling sensation there. I really felt like I must have a heart problem but I was hospitalized a year ago for 2 days and had lots of tests and was told my heart was fine. Then I was told it was probably acid reflux and given Nexiuum. That didn't make this symptom go away but it helped with indigestion.
My doctors act like I shouldn't worry about this weird sensation but its very disturbing and makes it difficult to sleep. I would feel better if they could just tell what that is , not knowing is what makes you worry.
I hope your doctors can figure it out and help you !

Hey Sunshine,
Thank you for the reply!
Yeah I have had it for a while and brought it up to my doctors multiple times and they never seemed too concerned so I guess we shouldn't be either...easier said than done haha! Its good to hear that someone else experiences something similar as well.
They told me it was acid reflux as well and gave me a prescription. Also had an upper GI done a few days ago and things looked fine, just a little acid reflux going on, so that helped. Went to see the doctor later about the weird symptoms and he thought it was just anxiety paired with a sinus infection that I had.
Gave me some Xanax and I slept like a baby haha! Last night slept with no issues and no drugs so I am doing well now.
Thanks again for the comforting reply! We tend to make mountains out of molehills with our small symptoms...
Hope things are well with you and take care!

I understand about the not sleeping thing. AWFUL! I'm taking a supplement 5HTPF instead of AMBIEN - which gave me a headache and did not sustain my sleep. I'm working on getting out for more exercise hoping to get my body worked and more oxygen to my brain. Will let you know if this works. You have my empathy!
