hello, i been sick for the past 3days... first my throat, irritated, then earache, then cough, and as u know i always think the worst. kept checking my temperature, my symptoms, no vomiting, diarrhea, and so forth, anyhow, i got amoxicillan, for the ears, nose, throat, but i think it causes side effects for me. i felt like i got worst.. although, my ears nose throat feels better, my body feels worst. it might be an allergic reaction, and right now, i know its making me feel worst, so when i took it right now, i feel like i have shortness of breath.. now im not sure if its the pills or my anxiety? im stressing, trying not to overreact... can anyone relate to me...i know taking pills causes anxiety... can someone out there make me feel better that its just my anxiety and im not dying....

Well I would watch it you could be sensitive or allergic. My husband has allergies to some antibiotics and he'll get racing heart, rashes. And he doesn't have panic disorder.
As for shortness of breath, usually with allergies that would come on suddenly and severely I would think . . . but I'm by no means an expert. It can cause increased anxiety though so maybe that is just your symptom from the anxiety?

Angela, could this antibiotic be causing you some stomach problems, and causing some indigestion to gather up around your chest, and make you feel like you are smothering??
I am no expert, either. I do know that I would check the side effects on this one, just to see if smothering is one of them...
Better safe than sorry!!!

amoxicillion is a pretty safe anti-biotic. i'm sure you've taken if before now. and you'd know if you were allergic by now. allergic reactions present in different ways but what you're discribing doesn't sound severe.
you aren't in anaphilactic(sp) shock or anything.
what it sounds like is anxiety. i know how you're feeling. taking pills used to cause me great anxiety. even simple stuff like benadryl but think of it this way, if you are allergic to amoxicillion, its mild at best and all you have to do is stop taking it.
go to the health food store and get some oregino which has NO side effects at all (its exactly like the herb, just condensed) and some ginger tablets for your stomach. again, no side effects. these work great for colds and stomach aches respectivly. and there are NO side effecs. its food in a tablet. you might as well eat fresh oregino and ginger. which doesn't hurt anyone.
but right now, you're having anxiety about taking medication. its very common and feels aweful. its exasperated by feeling physically ill. its hard to use your skills when you feel like crap. your shortness breath is most likely caused by congestion.
have some chamomile tea and send someone to the store to get some suppliments. but i promise...you're not dying.
this sounds like anxiety. i promise, you'll be fine honey. you'll get thru this just like you got thru the last time. this is not the time to be hyper critical of yourself. just settle down with a favorate movie or book and know that i have been exactly where you are right now, having the same thoughts. and i'm still here.
call a friend or two and have them call to check in on you every hour until you feel better.
email me if you need to.
big hugs,
jeny
