I pulled this topic back up. Hoping we could keep it going. I have been having bad pms for at least a week now.
Did anyone see Oprah on Friday? I seen the last 15 min. Where I live they had a live breaking news story(About that plane in New York). I'm hoping they will re-air it soon. Oprah said they would be talking more about it. I was just wondering if anyone seen it? And I was curiuos to know if it was just about menapause? The little bit I saw was talking mainly about that.

I feel like a different women when I'm having this(pms). It just makes me really sad, because when I'm NOT having the pms I am much more happier and content with my life. I still have anxiety and depression but for me it is like 10 times worse during the pms time. i'm hoping soon I will make a Gynocologist appt. It's hard when your afraid to go.

I only saw 1/2 of the show also. It was about Bio Identical hormones. Robin McGraw (Dr Phils wife) and Christiane Northrup were the guests on with Oprah.

There is a followup scheduled for January 29th.

I don't know your age, but for me at 42, I think a huge part of this is perimenopause although not alot of doctors are willing to admit it, they just want to give you Anti-depressants or Anti-anxiety drugs. Those can help, but I don't think it gets at the root cause.
Anyway check out <A HREF="http://www.power-surge.com" TARGET=_blank>www.power-surge.com</A>
You will get a wealth of information on all of this anxiety and pms stuff.

I like womentowomen for the informative articles but everything leads to taking their vitamins and supplements which aren't cheap.

Go see you Dr., mine recommended me staying on birth control pills for now......to control the up and down hormone fluctuation.

Hello.

I've noticed-through my journaling-that the last 3 months have been horrible for me emotionally just before my period. I mentioned it to my therapist last week. I don't have panic attacks-I just cry hysterically. This is also aggravated by a failed relationship. (I tend to think this is what set off my current emotional state of mind).I'll have to try the lentils-that's interesting.

Hello everyone-

I agree with MaryWango. In fact, just today I got two Personal Messages regarding the bio-identical progesterone.

Ladies--
Give it a shot. Please!!! It is a miracle. It's exactly what is already in your body. The supplementing just helps you to regain the proper ratio of estrogen to progesterone.

I'd be happy to help anyone to find a provider in their area. We could muddle thru together.
My guy is in my metro Mpls. area, but he mails it to me, so with a prescription it is possible he could mail it out to anyone. I don't know what kind of pharmacy licensing he has in various places.

Just to let everyone know, you can also buy "natural progesterone" at any health food or vitamin shoppe store. Make sure it's from a reputable company and only real "natural progesterone". I use the one by Emerita....Christine Northrup recommends it.... Also, like I've said before, Christine Northrup's books are great and Dr. John Lee books are great in explaining why you could benefit from using small doses at specific times for different reasons. (pms, fibrocystic breasts, migraines...etc.). If you don't have a knowledgable doctor, you could at least inform yourself buy reading some of these books. Unfortunately, a lot of doctors don't know much about natural and they actually confuse it with synthetic (crazy).

What I learned is that in the crazy years BEFORE menopause (can be anywhere from 5-10, sometimes 15 years!) a lot of us become estrogen dominant. Our hormone levels are very up and down right now and it's actually normal. (I will be 39 in March!) When we are premenopause, our hormones are like when we were going thru puberty, very sporadic, and therefore, all those crazy emotions. (and probably some of our anxiety!!) There are soooo many reasons our progesterone is often low....in ratio to the estrogen. Stress, diet, plastics (xenohormones..ugh), contaminated water and food (hormones, antibiotics..etc.)

I could go on....the books are so interesting it's unbelievable. Of course I really like to read about this subject so I am somewhat prepared in a few years ya know? Anyways, I think it's great us women get educated about this especially when I look at my five year old daughter...if you read one of these books you really will get a different view on several aspects of your life. Good luck to all of you, we will all feel better because we have the desire.

fear not,

I have not read all the other replies so I don't know If I am repeating anything someone already said.

But, about a week before my menses I always seem more sensitive. I feel more off balanced like I just crawled out of bed, foggy thinking, and just irritability. I handle this using my skills AND I take a B-Complex with LOTS of water. It does wonders for me.

You can always talk to your doctor if you feel your hormone issues are too uncomfortable. never think you are stuck with something for the rest of your life. ;)
