As part of depression, it is only normal to disqualify the positives and catastrophize the negatives. We up play the negative situation, our mistakes and we down play our strengths and our accomplishments.

What i'd like to know is what is it that you do in order to switch it around?

Like Lucinda said "if you're going to blow things out of proportion, why not blow up the good stuff?"

Nobody does this at all? Come on, there has to be someone.

Well, I just started this and i find it helpful. I have a spiral notebook specifically to write down my accomplishments on. Accomplishment writing on it's own is not good enough but when you write what it means to accomplish each one, then it makes an effect.

ei;

I got myself to the gym and worked out. This is me taking the time to make myself better both mentally and physically. This shows that my health, well-being, confidence and self-respect are important to me.

I've been making it a point to notice the positives be it I was able to talk myself out of a panic attack, go food shopping and be calm through the whole store and get everything on my list or if I am just sitting and for a split second I have a feeling of peace come over me I acknowledge it and am grateful for it. Just seeing the sunshine break through the clouds I make a point of appreciating it (especially because it's been so dreary here lately).
