Yea I get that all the time! I think it has something to do with not being able to breathe and swallowing for me and my stomach problems but I always start to panic while I am eating I don't get it. But hey we all gotta eat!!! Its unavoidable so just try to calm down i know its hard but you can do it!

Francesca,

I experience that from time to time. I could be so hungry and then all of a sudden when I have food in front of me I panic. And when I am in front of people it is worse. And then there are days like yesterday where I eat the whole refrigerator. Well, on the bright side of things I am maintaing my weight. How are you progressing? I think about you often since your post. I pray that all is well. Peace & Calm

a psychologist told me once that when you don't feel like eating much or are having trouble holding food down that you should eat popsicles. not funny flavored or anything with dairy in it-just regular popsicles preferably the ones that say "made with real juice" on the box, because they're liquid (easy to swallow) and have some fruit (even if it's just fake flavoring) and sugar. she said it would help keep me hydrated. i did it a couple times and it helped.
plain stuff like potatoes are good too.

Popsicles is a good idea, and so are the smoothies. Thanks.

Princess, I get like that too. I'll be really hungry and wanting to eat, and I think yay finally I have an appetite again, and then I take a few bites and can't get it down my throat even though my stomach wants it. It's so weird!

I find it's easier for me to get some food into me late at night rather than during the day. Maybe because by then my body's more relaxed at the end of the day?

Hi Francesca,
We can be pals. I have the same problem with mine. The tightness in the throat is there and my body wants to panic by just thinking about eating.
Ironically, this one still hasn't gone away for me yet. That's ok though. I know what it is. NBD.
So, I know exactly what you are going through. I have been dealing with this for 8 months now. It's the only symptom that I have. I am telling it to go ahead and just be there- do its worst.
Something I read today... To get rid of panic, want it. Want it to be there. What you resist persists.
Not a bad idea. Let's go for it. Face it head on and want it. That will help eliminate the fear of it and the dislike.
Here's to us!
We have anxiety, it doesn't have us.

I totally understand what everyone is going through. I have such a nervous stomach it's often hard for me to eat. This has been a great source of frustration because I love food!
I find it especially hard to eat out in public. I recently was able to make it out to Friendly's with my fiance ( a wonderful accomplishment, I pat myself on the back for that one), and I found that when I would have food in my mouth I would worry about throwing up at the restaurant.
What seems to help me is the breathing exercise. If I take a minute to breathe and calm myself I can usually go back to my meal.
I would say to try to do that along with positive thinking, it seems to do the trick with me.

And also, that smoothie idea sounds phenomenal. I'm going to have to try it! LOL.

Best wishes to all of you. We can and will make it through.

I have had this problem as well, feeling anxiety and sometimes going into a Panic Attack when eating. It is a trigger for me, because I had one bad experience. ( I had a panic attack, so I was associating it evrytime I ate) I thought I was the only one, but I feel better, it's not just me! I now try to breathe, take a moment and think positive thoughts. It really does help. Now, I have to stop worrying about upcoming eating siuations, I never worried about eating before. I love food!
