I've been taking Remeron for 4.5 years now (typically 30-45mg). In the past it has worked well, but my most recent panic episode has lasted over 6 weeks and even after increasing the Remeron it's getting worse. The initial panic trigger is long over but the anxiety won't go away. I'm starting to wonder if the increased meds are making it worse. I'm also taking Lorazepam (Ativan) as needed for sleeping (0.5mg). Has anyone else had long term usage of Remeron? Should I be trying something else?
Also, I'm 14 weeks into the Stress Program and I find it helpful, but I'm a long way from being better.

I use remeron when i have severe panic attacks and i can't calm down, because it makes me sleepy. I try to only use it when i have a bad episode or when i cannot sleep.
My doctor was happy i wanted to use remeron instead of some other drugs ebcause he said remeron is non habbit forming and non addictive.
I'm not sure about long term risks, but if you are worried you should call your doctor to find out.
Medications are different for everyone, so check with your doctor, i wish you the best of luck

I have been taking Remeron for about a year. I like it because it helps me sleep at night. Before I was taking two sleeping pills at bedtime and they would last about four hours. I would wake up and my mind would be racing so I would take another sleeping pill to get me through the night. I don't need sleeping pills now although I do take a clonazapam at night. I still wake up with a lot of anxiety in the morning. I have tried other antidepressants but they either hyped me up or made me feel like I was watching the world from the outside. I think my depression is better but I still have a lot of anxiety during the day. Its what ever works for you. Just started this program this week. Convinced just drugs were not going to do the trick. Its still going to take awhile before I get to where I want to be.
