I take 200mg Zoloft at night before bed. Lately I feel like this is not doing anything, and I've been taking my as-needed Alprazolam (.25mg)like once a day, when I only used to use for test anxiety and emergencies, like if I couldn't sleep.
Why could this be happening? I feel like I'm getting worse than I was a month ago and I don't understand how or why that could be happening. I am in school and won't get to see my doctor until like the 2nd or 3rd week in March.
Any suggestions, ideas, comments, support?
Zoloft issues
Jadore6132,
I hear your worry and concerns. I am on 200 mg of Zoloft as well. I was on it for a year about 2 years ago, and was just recently put back on it again since October for severe and clinical depression. However, prior to taking Zoloft in October, I was up at school when my crisis began. The doctor on campus put me on Cymbalta. That drug, for me, was a nightmare. It made me feel worse, didn't seem to be doing a thing to help me. So in your situation, you may be having the same results to your zoloft. It may not be the right medication for you. You will hear on all of the commercials and written on the bottles that these medications can worsen your condition, increase suicidal thoughts, etc. So I don't think you should wait until March to see your doctor if that's possible. The last thing you want is to feel worse and possibly put yourself in harms way.
If you cannot see your doctor - maybe listening to the Relaxation tape will help or listen to the first cd of the program. I have gone back and listened to some of the cd's more than once when I felt alone, scared, or depressed. If you do not have the cassettes, then I would recommend doing something that makes you happy, your zoloft. For instance, days when I am feeling down - I can either stay in my room all day, not talk to anyone, and sleep the day away, or I could do something I enjoy to at least get myself active, such as going to the gym, going for a walk, watching funny video's on youtube, blast one of my favorite cd's and sing and dance like no one is watching, read an inspirational book, google inspirational quotes, etc. I have found that making other things my medication has helped boost my mood when I am having an "off" day.
Are you under a lot of stress with classes? Because I am a student as well and finishing up my last semester from home. Perhaps I can help you with your studies or just be someone you can talk to. Please know you are not alone!

Thank you, Goober. That makes me feel better, that I am not alone. I've actually been on Zoloft for 3 years now I think.
You sound like my boyfriend, he tells me all the time to dance and be goofy. So I'm going to try that too. I will also go back and listen to past tapes, the relaxation cd always makes me feel better, or helps me sleep.
I am having a stressful semester, so it will be nice to have someone to talk to who understands how I am feeling.

Hi Jadore6132,
I am on 25mg of Zoloft, the highest I have been on has been 50mg.
I know sometimes, if you have been on it to long, the dose might need to be increase.
As Goober25, stated sometimes, the meds stop working. I would speak to my doctor about it, and see what he/she tells you.
If you feel it is something, you need to talk to your doctor about cause it is really bothering you, I would try to see him/her earlier than the second or third week of March. Some of the doctor's office has a nurse you can talk to, and they past it on to the doctor. You can give that a try. Also, sometimes you can leave a message at your doctor's office and ask that your doctor call you.
Enjoy being goofy, and dancing.

I've been on zoloft for ten years. Once I got better the doctor lowered my dose to 50 mg and I was like that for about 8 out of the 10 years. Well my dad passed away in Sept 2008 and I got really depressed and anxious so the doctor put me back on 150 mg. The depression is better but I still have the anxiety. Any good doctor will call you back when you call their office. Tell him or her what you are feeling and see what they tell you. Sometimes we cannot wait two or three weeks. Best of luck. Leopolda
Jadore6132 -
Just checking in to see how you are feeling this week. Have you done anything to help try to boost your mood? I hope you can get to your doctor soon.
How are your classes going?
This past week I have been very anxious about my classes and revisiting my campus which is upstate. Major step for me. I am taking the advice from Lucinda (and my therapist agrees) that I need to put myself in a disfunctional situation so that I can allow my body to feel the symptoms and use the skills I have learned to get myself through an upcoming attack or just the anxiety in general. So this weekend will be a huge stepping stone for me. I hope it goes well.
Hope you are feeling a little better and doing your best to keep your chin up. I'm right here and have been in your shoes if you ever need to talk.
