Dear Valeria, yes Xanax is extremely addictive in my opinion. As a recovering addict, I would advise against taking it unless you're having bad panic attacks in which case it could improve your quality of life. Speaking as someone who abused Xanax in the past, some of the dumbest things I ever did were a result of taking too much Alprazolam (Xanax).

When times were really bad, I would think xanax was my only outlet at the time. But, I would always notice not only severe fatigue and drowsiness the next day, but as a runner I had a hard time with my next run. My heart felt weaker and I had even more anxiety the next episode, so it became this habitual cycle. I have done quite a bit of the anxiety meds and truthfully, the breathing exercises 3 times a day, and I have to do it that many times helps more than anything.

I have taken Xanax for sleep for years and I'm really messed up. Did you get professional help to recover? Who did you go to. My GP just wants to give me another pill of something else. Tried Zoloft and Seroquel and both had side effects.

I have to take xanax at night to go to sleep. A couple of years ago, I started having strange falling sensations when I layed down at night. Of course I thought something was wrong with my brain and really started obsessing about all the things that could be wrong with me. I wasn't getting any sleep, so I had to take the xanax to allow me to relax when I got in bed. Now I've figured out that these falling sensations come when I'm under a lot of stress. It took me over a year to figure that out. Panic and stress can lead to a variety of symptoms. Just don't have them all figured out yet.
