I was on 75 mg Effexor XR from 2005-2007 and it worked really well for me and greatly reduced my anxiety and depression. However, it was horrible to get off of! It took me about 3 months to get off the medication because my withdrawal symptoms were so bad. Ever since I got off the medication though my anxiety has returned and I have been having panic attacks. I am wondering if I should get back on the Effexor XR? I am afraid to take it again but I am sick of feeling this way.

Hi! I'm on Effexor XR75 and if you are experiencing anxiety and panic attacks - I would be seeing my physian and ask questions. Don't give up on this program. Point these issues out to your doctor until he/she sees the seriousness of your situation.
Also, what you consuming lots of sugars, caffeines, soda? Stop by cutting out one or two things a day. Relaxation tapes, are you using them? Are you using the breathing exercises when an attack is coming on and find something positive to do.
I praying for you!

Effexor was a great med. I was actually on Effexor 50mg and then later to 75 mg for a year and it worked great. However, it was hard to get off of it. The only way I was able to get off of it was when I got pregnant and had no choice, but the hormone levels were so high that I actually did fine and had no anxiety or panic attacks during pregnancy and had no problem getting off of it once I was pregnant. I did try after pregnancy to get back on Effexor and it didn't work well for me. Our bodies change after giving birth etc so I was just not able to take that drug afterwards ror some reason!
I would say that you should get back on the drug if it worked for you pretty well - at least you know that you felt great while taking it, and at least you don't have to "shop around" finding a good med that works for you.
Good Luck!
