Dear DMP,
I am so sorry to hear about your job. These are very difficult economic times for a lot of us. I live in Illinois and it is a fire at will state, which means they can fire you for anything other that sex, race, or religion. They can even fire you if they don't like the color of your hair. I hope that you have looked into unemployment though. In Illinois you don't have to work at the same job for a certain period of time, but you do have to have worked a certain amount of time during the previous quarter or something like that even if it was at different companies. I am sending good thoughts your way and I hope things work out for you.

Hi DMP,

I am sorry about your work situation and your BF acting as he did.

As unfair as it seems, work situations like the one you were in happen all the time. We have economic hard times, you were within a 90 day trial period, and there are so many states in which employees are at will workers. The latter means the employer needs no good reason to remove or fire you.

As hard as it seems, try not to obsess, or what if thinking or why they did they let me go. You must move on!

Think of it this way: Is the fight worth the effort? If they didn't pay you 5 million a year and provide you a 1 million dollar golden parachute, it is not worth the fight!

Network with friends, former co-workers, your church family, associations, etc. Put together a great resume, and scour the on line classifieds and head hunters, and get busy find the right job for you!

Occupy your time on getting that right job that is worth your effort and forget about that little job from that struggling employer that may soon be out of business. If you obsess on this situation you will not be able to move forward.

You may have to expand your search area and maybe even have to move to a different area. Don't fear any of this, it is what you may have to do to find a better work situation and maybe even a whole new and better way of life.

Remember also that it takes some rain to make the flowers grow. Right now, you may feel like there is a torrent of rain beating down on you, now give yourself and the flowers a chance to spring up in you life.

I hope you got this and my other message to you.

Warmest and biggest hugs,

G

Hey Gman and everyone else that has replied to me!

Gman yes I did get your posts and thank you soo much..I dont know why your posts hit me but they did...a good way. They hit me enough to make me cry....happy tears of course.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I did get a job. I am now going to be working back in the salon industry( Ive been a hairstylist for over 6 yrs) Its really tough for me because I gave it up when I first started dealing with anxiety and depression. My cousin also works at this salon along with one other girl...so its nice and small private and absolutely beautiful.
I am so excited!

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. I think I finally realized that I am worth it. I have so much talent in what I do, that I have to share it!
