head pressure
Hi Robin,\
I am Ramona, I also have that and its from Tension that stems from muscles from our neck and shoulders when we feel stressed out or having anxiety which causes Us the tension and the band like feeling around the head. If you feel your neck and shoulders you will probably feel some pain when You press down.. do some stretching exercises for the neck and arms and back to release some tension.. ALSO ALWAYS CHECK WITH A DOCTOR if this continues or gets worse..
I did I went to numerous Docs and my Doc said that the tension in the shoulders and back pull the muscles backwards and that pulls the scalp backwards because it gets so tight.. this can also cause dizziness, off balance, scares ya for sure,, makes your scalp very tender and that Lovely Head pain ..
Try to relax and listen to something soothing ,, take a hot shower or soak in the tub.. listen to the program and the relaxation cd.. or if you have a rice bag or heat wrap like you put in the microwave use that on the neck and shoulders but be careful and dont get it to hot.. sometimes ice will help but it doesn for me .. so take care and let me know how your doing ok??? Hope you feel better soon relax those shoulders and Breath,, Ramona

Thank you sooooo much foe your response. I do have a lot of neck and upper back stiffness and pain. I feel like my head is in a vice grip but I wasnt sure whether it was my sinuses or anxiety. I will definitely tak your advice and get back to you on how I feel. This has been going on for a couple of days but seems to come in go in its severity. I will keep you posted. thanks again
I do get the tightness in my neck and shoulders and feel like my head is in a vice grip. I also went to a doctor and they send me to a chiropractor for a long time. It helped some. Most of the time I do not even know what causes it or brings it on. Sometimes it is not there an others it just comes and I can't put a finger on what the cause is.

Hi to all and to Robin,
I've had problems with the head pressure too over the past year. My doctor and massage therapist told me also that it is from the muscles tightening from stress at the back of my head and neck. Their response was to avoid hunching over, like most of us do when we are tense, and keep the shoulders and posture straight. Also, I've been going to the local pool (indoor) and being in the water helps alot with the tension. Try sitting up straight and rolling your shoulders back to ease the tension and make small circles. That and practice breathing whenever you can, taking long, deep breaths to ease tension.
Funny how tension goes right to our necks!
