I have a question. I tried the chat room but its like everywhere ells there all super nice (as long as your a long time friend or talking about them) I don't want to be pacified i want to know if anyone else has a problem with writing things down like your thought things that only you should know and how did you get over it or how do you deal with it iv tried talking myself into doing it and locking it up or maybe even on my laptop witch is password protected but by the time i get to actually try it i've talked myself right back out of it because i can't stand the thought of that one time i might leave it out or open and something be seen or used against me or heck you name it i probably thought it
Hey Jai Maybe the best time for you to write things down would be at night before bed and put your notebook under your mattress. As long as no one knows it is there. Writing your thoughts down does help you,its like a therapy. You get to get it out of your mind. which will free up space for relaxing and just constantly tell yourself good things about yourself.
could you maybe write down what you need to and then rip it up or burn it...then with time maybe you could write and keep it longer.
Are you in the program?
My mom raised me with what you described..she still writes nothing down...I on the other hand broke the cycle and write all the time...in a book I leave out(I use to hide it or throw it away if I got scared someone would read it)...
I hope you find a way to write it is ssooooo freeing. Best of luck...keep us posted please.

i used to write allot when i was younger and yes it made me feel better and all that then i found out my therapist was showing my mother and so on and on i started burning things i wrote then it got to be that i must have something to hide or what ever so i just stopped writing ether partners would read and misunderstand or i really just couldn't put what i was feeling in words.
Just write...........I think that if you are having some wierd and crazy thoughts it's good if you can write them out of your head it helps you to notice your thinking and how you thoughts could be affecting your life. So what if someone finds your writing and reads it, just tell them you are writng a book and these are your plots and if they have problems with it them tell them thats their problem, afterall there are some big name writers out there who are pulling in the big bucks for their weird thinking.....this is your life so do whatever it takes to get you over this bump in the road. Just writing and expressing myself to you is helping me to get over my bump..........thanks for your courageous post
jai,
do like I did and it will be so much help to you if you get your thoughts on paper.you said that your computer is password protected.if you have microsoft word or even word pad.set it up and write your feelings down and what bothers you and what you are going throuh and how you got through some tough things.then when you have enough you can write a book. there are book companies that will publish your book for free and even give you 30% of the sales.you can be a ghost writer and not put your real name on it.if you would like the name of the company let me know.take care and good luck in the program.you can do it and if I can you can.be blessed.

Hello all - I'm new to the program it's only Day 1 and I'm anxious over the writing part of it as well. Has it really been helpful and in what way? I plan to follow the program and will give it my best in all areas, but this might be a trouble spot, like it sound like it is for you, Jai. Hang in there bud, you're not alone. I think you gotta try it and find a good hiding spot! Good luck!
The journaling is a very important part of this program. For me it was crucial in seeing what negative thoughts needed to be changed, how they were effecting my moods, how much I was scaring myself with some of these thoughts, and how untrue most of them really were. It shows us what our themes or patterns are in our thinking. The restructuring of the negative thoughts into believable positive alternatives will change how you view yourself and your life. A few weeks of journaling will also give you immense insight when you get to the later sessions on making changes and figuring out what your secondary gains are. I wouldn't have recovered to the level I did without the journaling, and forcing myself to take a look at the good, the bad, and the ugly of my thinking.
