Robert,
The thoughts you are having at this point are fairly normal as you have just started the program. The fear that won't get better, especially as your young age, can be very frighting, as is you "what if" thinking. As you continue with the program these issues will be addressed and you will see that they can be overcome. All of this takes lot or work and patience.
Remember what your therapist told you and hold on that positive thought. Some things that have helped are using what we call A,B,C's. A --accept (and recognize) that it is adrenilan casuing the anxiety; B-- do the breathing tips for at least 1 minute each time you feel some anxiety coming on ( the longer the better); C--think and say to yourself, calm, comforting, compassionate words. Also with your program came a packets of small cards, carry them with you, read them when you start to feel anxious, they really do work. Be kind to yourself, think about the positives in your life and believe that it will get better, more positive. Remember, it takes work and patience, don't get upset with yourself if it dosn't seem to be going as quickly as you'd like, that is something people with our issues all have in common, try not to dwell on that.
I hope my ideas give you some help and comfort. Keep working the program it really will help, I know, I've been where you are and am doing much better now.
God Bless
Germaine
