I feel this program might take me forever to get recovered

Post by dannyv26 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 2:45 am

I just been thinking about how long the CDs are. I don't know if it's me or being depressed.
I don't know why but I feel this program might not help me. Sometimes when I'm alone I think of very scary thoughts
Like hurting myself but I know I'm not it's just the thoughts. I am really tried of this anxiety I want my life back
And just be happy again. I think to myself that it's going to take a lot of progress for me to be recovered
And that worrys me. I have had this program for a while but I just left it there in my closet. I would always tell myself
I'm gonna hear the CDs today but I wouldn't and another day went passed. I keep doing that until now I am listening
To the tapes a little but still progressing. I feel alone and being scaried with this program. I really want all this to end.

Danny,
I felt like that once upon a time, and still have thoughts like that at times, they just fade faster and don't scare me as they once did. I think especially when first starting there is a little of that fear in all of us. The fear of not being able to, but also the fear of being able to. I don't know about you, but I had been that way for sooo long (My whole life really) It's going to take time!! Especially if you want lasting change, it's not going to happen overnight. We have been "programmed" so to say, to be as we are, we have to now work at re-programming ourselves, and that does take time. I don't think as much as you think. As you start working at things, you will start to change and see improvements. I started the program around the beginning of the year. I am taking my sweat time and am only to session 9, but the changes I've made, I already am feeling like "a new person".
I will say I am learning from experience you do get out of it what you put into it, so if you really want to make the changes, if you really want "your life back"stick with it and give it your all :)
YOU can do it!!
Just like Josh said - what have you got to lose?!?!?! It surely can't make things any worse?!?!?!

Danny, both Josh and Iwillbebetter have given you great advice. I go to a therapist and it has made me realize just how good Lucinda's program is. I use both what he teaches me and what she teaches I know a woman who recovered using this program, so it DOES WORK. You just have to be willing to put in the hard work and do the homework. Don't let anxiety/depression discourage you--they are both mental cons. Like Lucinda says--there is nothing wrong with you, you are just not thinking correctly and you are letting anxiety scare you. You can just accept it, "float with it" as Lucinda says and once you quit fearing it, it will go away. It is hard to do, but you can do it if you want it bad enough.

Don't worry about how long it takes to recover, just take one day at a time. There are no "quick fixes " to this. It takes commitment and hard work and a willingness to change. Once you start believing it will work for you, it will make it easier to do what you need to. Hope the three of us have given you some proof that it can work.

Thank you guys for that advice I feel a lot better knowing that you guys have felt this before. I am willing to
keep going at the program. I really do want to get better I do. It's just those thoughts that are keeping me from
Getting better. I have been hearing the relaxation cd and it has helped. But I only get to listen that that one I never really
Get to listen to other CDs. I always say I am gonna hear them but I end up not hearing them. Which cd is good for that?

Danny - I agree with Josh, start with the first one. I think they have it laid out in a good format and you should try to follow it that way. Although I'm sure there are others that have gone in their own order and still worked out. One thing I will say is take your time. They suggest one session a week, buy many (Including myself) tend to take more than a week for many of the sessions. Take the time you feel you need... if a week works for you great, if you feel you need a little more time in the session take it!! This really is a GREAT program and if you really put in the time and work you will be amazed. :)

Don't  let it get to you. IMPROVISE...that helps.....step away from it and go back....that helps. Do CD 6 before 5 or 8 before 2.....so what? It might take the strain of having to be on a rigid schedule off you! Try it! If it doesn't work. Go the conventional route and remember we are all in this together.

Thank you all for replying. I have been listening to the CDs and i'm feeling better I really am but I think to myself those negative thoughts again say i'm not getting better. I always think to myself that I should be a better person. I always wanna be the best at anything I do. I just want my life to go to normal I feel like i'm stuck in a dark hole and I can't get out!! Its like i'm trying to get out but I keep on slipping back in that hole. Even if I try to get a therapist I think about the money and its like if the anxiety and depressing gods want me to be depressed and miserable.I just don't wanna think about anything and be who I wanna be and be happy.

sounds to me like your expectations are getting the best of you!! We are deffinately people that can very easily get sucked into "trying to hard" either to do things perfect, make people like us, etc. We have to learn we are NOT perfect and can NEVER be!! We will make mistakes, we will have negative thoughts. It's what we do from that point forward that makes the diffence. Right now we have to work on changing what it is that we would normally do from that point. That is not going to happen over night. It took time to get us reacting as we are, so it's going to take time to learn to naturally react in another manner!! But it can be done!! :)
