Trouble driving

Post by Rosser333 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 5:58 pm

I'm on session two and my biggest problem right now is driving or riding in cars. I am going to try the 6 steps in this session while driving to and from work but I don't know if I can remeber everything while driving. Does anyone have any suggestions on distracting myself from anxiety while driving safely?

Tune into a radio station you really like or push in a CD. Sing to your hearts content. I mean really sing and let it all out. It doesn't matter what you sound like. Singing distracts you from unwanted thoughts and makes you feel good ;) .

Thanks, I'll trry that! The only problem is my biggest responce to anxiety is getting tight chested. So singing may be tough. But I will definately try it.

I have trouble driving too. When i drive i am fine. But, if i ride in the car with someone else, i feel like im freaking out esp when i get a hill. I feel like im on a rollercoaster, and my stomach feels like that too. I kinda get like vertigo. I have gone to many different doctors having them check to see if my ears or head has some problem. So far nothing. I am very afraid of heights, so im not sure if this is the problem, but i won't go to places that i have to drive on a big hill, even if im driving.

keep thinking that you can't live like this, that you can't keep feeling like this and that you can keep a hold of your anxiety. you can't let it control you just keep thinking that you're a fighter and that your kicking anxiety's ass little by little, it's a fight man that you keep winning that's why you are here to keep winning cause otherwise you could been given up, keep it up keep up the fighting against this controlling feelings of anxiety.
