Re: No money for the program
Hi Lisa,
That's a tough one. I didn't have the money for it initially, either. A family member offered to get it for me--so I swallowed my pride big time.
Maybe you can check your library to see if they have the program. If not, maybe they can get it for you through an InterLibrary Loan. If not, they may have something else written by Lucinda. Or they may have other books/audio on the subject.
There may also be free or low cost counseling services in your community that you may be able to access in the meantime.
For example, there may be an evening support group that meets in a local church/hospital for people who have depression. I attended one, and it helped. . .
Also, is there a local hospital clinic that provides pretty good service (doctor and counselor/social worker)?
If you need income/insurance, you may be eligible for SSI/Medicaid. It is important to have income for some sense of independence.
If you can save up for the program, you will find that it's well worth it.

Hi Lisa,
Have a look on Ebay, you can certainly find the program for a lot cheaper, second hand. While it's not the program, Lucinda's book "From Panic to Power" is very helpful and this you could find at a library.

Re: No money for the program
Go to your local library and check out some CBT books and start doing the exercises in them. CBT is what Lucinda's program is based on. The CBT book that waqs especially helpful for me was Been There, Done that? DO This! by Sam Obitz. See if your library has it (it's short and an easy read) and start countering your thoughts in the exercise called a TEA form and I think you will see some surprising results. Best of Luck

Re: No money for the program
what is this whole EBAY thing...
i have no money
no credit card
no car
no family to offer help to pay the program either
if i had 100 dollars i would eat...
what is this about the library? in California all the library are closed most days and figured out the system of when they are open and available and getting down there is hard
church/hospital - i am not christian. I know this is a christian thing but usually people throw me out when they find out i am bisexual so that is usually a no go
doctor and counselor/social worker - you need to be disabled, or pregnant, to get medical care
and yes there is County medical indent service program (CMISP) but the paperwork is so hard to file out because i get anxity
i have not had a doctor for over ten years
if i had work i would not be having problems
so i guess NM
thanks

Re: No money for the program
You seem to be very intelligent and capable of a lot of things, as you have a rebuttle to all of the help offered in this forum. My advice is to log on to Youtube( that's free ! ), and search Lucinda Bassett, or attacking anxiety. There are countless uploads of past customers where you can get a lot of information. A someone who has battled anxiety all of their life, I know it is not easy, but you can not give up. You simply have lost your confidence and need to gain some coping skills in order to get your confidence back. I know you will make this happen. I can also tell you that as a gay male, church and hospitals do not care about that....and if you live in California ( I grew up there, super liberal ) you should not have any problems being "bi"...it is an irrelevant issue. Best of luck to you, now go seize your life back !

Hi Lisa,
Well it seems you have access to the internet. So I would use that as my resource if I had no money, no credit card, no family to help me out. There is LOADS of information online, go at it!

I'm rocking the same boat, I got women's medicaid and will talk to a doctor soon, but That insurance only covers a monthly exam and birth control, I'm hoping they can send me somewhere... Or I will keep trying to find help.

Re: No money for the program
All major cities in the US have a crisis phone line for help. Try there. Try the United Way. Try Human Services thru your state government. Do you live in a town with a major public university? See if they have psychological services for free. The United Way can steer you in many directions and that is always a HELP. In my major metro area, there is a group that meets for FREE 2x a month for anxiety. What city do you live in? Let us figure out some help for you if you want some. Google your city name and anxiety. Be creative and your be surprised what you'll find. I have faith you can do it. No one will or should judge you based on your sexual preference. Why does that even have to come up with anxiety help? Good luck.
