Plz Help Me Im Desperate...

Post by AmandaPoston » Thu May 19, 2011 1:12 am

Hello everyone. I have been having very bad attacking anxiety, panic attacks and depression since early 2001. I have 1 baby who I love desperatly and want so badly to get help to be able to be somewhat normal. My wonderful neighbor actually found this site for me and is letting me use her computer and is praying that someone here can help me out as am I. I use to work and loved working until this took me down in 2001. I have since tried working and it just doesnt turn out. I have tried doctors in the past and medications. None of the meds helped for me. I was either nocked out or felt like a zombie all the time. I am now off all meds. I really want to do this a more natural way. My husband is the only one working and we are living paycheck to paycheck right now and dont have any extra money after all the bills and things we need for our little one. I want so badly to get this program, but I honestly cant afford it. Does anyone know if there are anyway I could get help. I would pay back every cent as soon as I could get back to working again. I want so bad to get back to normal again or as close to normal as I can and feel like the best mommy I can be to my baby. I just dont feel like my lil one is getting 100% of me. Please if anyone knows of anyone I can speak with please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, I didn't have the program when I first started, eventually my sister lent me her CDs, she is the one that put me on to Lucinda's Program. Here are some things that you can do to get going that doesn't cost much. You could get Panic to Power from Hastings, it is about $10.00, a little bit more or less. Also, from here are links to Lucinda's video's that you can follow with the group. Some people have started again on the 15 week program and are on Session 6, but you can go to their previous postings when they started on Session 1 to read some tips or get links to Lucinda's YouTube videos.

Also, the Carry Along Cards are posted on NinjaFrodos postings done earlier in November. Just do a search and you will find that THH has posted what is on the cards.

Another thing that had helped me before I came here was Dr David Burns Feeling Good Mood Therapy books and most recently which helped me to feel good enough to get off my anti-depressants was his 10 Steps to Self-Esteem Workbook. Do the chapters or steps in this workbook and the homework and you will find that you will FEEL BETTER! :D

You also have us to help you along. I have read that people have found Lucinda's Program on EBAY for a lot less money and I was able to recently purchase someone's program at a lesser price. I had my sister's CDs which I listened to everyday and still do...but didn't have the guidebook. So that I find is very helpful now that I have it. But Dr David Burns and his Workbook and other books are most helpful and Panic to Power by Lucinda Bassett will help you the most at the least expensive price.

You can find From Panic to Power right on the shelf at Hastings and also Dr David Burns books, paperback at discounted prices or less expensive than possibly Barnes and Nobles. Also, check your library and second hand stores.

It is all about CBT or Cognitive Behavior Training! We are working on controlling our minds. Our thoughts and actions and also what we put into our mouths. We are working on putting good food in our bellies and keep the bad stuff that causes anxiety out. Get plenty of sunshine and get in a 20 minute walk up to an hour and keep a journal. Paislee

This is wonderful input from Paislee. The key is to follow through on the practical advice she gives.

The program is based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) that has been proven to be effective. Your library may have some books. Search under CBT (spell it out) and you are likely to find some valuable guidance. Stick with it, we'll help as best we can. Best wishes to you.

Hi Amanda,

I'm sorry to hear you're going through such a hard time. I know how tight money can be, especially with a little one! You could consider purchasing a second hand program, I know Ebay has a few. Does your husband have any coverage through work to see a therapist? Most of these benefits usually extend to a spouse. Some even have online therapy where you email your counsellor, I've done this and it's SO helpful, plus conveniently don't have to leave your home. And of course, this message board is always a good resource as well as anxietyzone.com Lots of helpful people there as well!

Hello everyone Im sorry I dont have acess to a computer as often as I would like. I can only get on one every 2 weeks or less. My neighbor is the one I use, but I honestly dont like doing that as I know it could bother her and I dont like to be a bother. I honestly cant afford to buy any books or the program off ebay. As I stated we are living paycheck to paycheck with little left over after bills and everything for our lil one is bought for gas money. I hate sounding like a bum which I know I do sound that way. If anyone could help me out with youtube links to a relaxation video or something also about the diet I should be doing. I dont drink caffeine at all in anything I drink I stay clear of that period. I have started a low carb diet as well and lost around 16 lbs in 1 1/2 months but am slacking. Plz I am begging for anyone to help me.

Hi Amanda! I like R's suggesting about Keith Abow website, I might just go check it out myself! Also, the library has a great resource of books on self esteem as well. And as R said, the use of a computer. Have you started a journal yet?

Also, follow the group that are working the sessions. They have posted what Lucinda puts on her carry along cards.

Great news about staying away from caffeine. Next work on eating protein meals. Tuna, eggs, seafood, chicken, lean ground beef, roast beef, lean ham with not too much salt. Eat veggies and fruits and walk at least 20 minutes, but try and get in an hour of easy walking or other aerobic activity. Paislee

Hello,

What helps me is when I remember that I am the one giving this thing power, and I'm also the one to take that power away. I try to remember that, and it helps :-)
