Having Anxiety after 8 years of going through program

Post by polochi » Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:09 am

I was really scared that started to have panic attacks after 8 years. I thought my whole world was crumbling and that there was no way out. I have gone through some challenges in the last 4 years and I forgot to talked to my self positively. I almost canceled my firrst trip to Europe. I started to go through my CD's again and I am feeling much better. I started to write my negative thoughts, do relaxing tape and journal. I had to remind my self that I have gone through Anxiety and Depression before and gotten out of it!

It has been a challenge, however it can be done. God is in control at all times!

Thank you to God for giving this widsom to Lucinda and the people that has worked with her to help thousand of people.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi Lupita, there can be a certain recidivism after years of improvement. People have shared that reality. My thinking is if it helped once, why not another time? CBT is a conditioning that perhaps can lose its effect long term. It may be just as worthwhile multiple times.

Sure hope it can help you once again.

It is always disappointing to have anxiety return once again, after recovering for years! I, too, had experienced this on a few occasions! If we could only totally cure ourselves, it would be so great! Anxiety, I have accepted, is sometimes a normal part of life! If we can limit it to a normal pace, we can surely find solace in that!

I went through the original attacking anxiety prorgram, that was quite some time ago, but since Christmas really things have gone down hill again and well here I am, I need to go back through it again.

Me too. I'm trying not to focus on the "oh, s***, why me" part too much and just get out the tools and go to work. Kind of like if the toilet overflows or the roof leaks or I back into the fence. I'm trying to release the anger about being in this position again (w/anxiety and depression), but there are steps I can take, things I can do to "fix" things again. And it's a hassle and I don't have time for it in my life right now, but I'm going to do it.

I'm back in for a second time around, too. It's been 9 years for me. But it worked the first time around and it will work the second time around. Maybe we need to start a second timers group to keep everyone accountable!? I'm thinking it shouldn't take us as long this time around either. Best to you all! We have the skills and we did it before....WE CAN DO THIS! Carrie

Carrie (and all): I'm sure hoping it won't take so long. And I'm hoping that I won't be starting from as low a point. Did you experience that? Did you recognize the anxiety/depression train bearing down on you early enough to take action to help yourself? Or was that too many years of it being gone ("cured for good") to realize what was happening to you?

I keep hoping that I clued in early enough. I'm so grateful that I'm not a pile of jello on the floor, a puddle of former-me for my family to work around or step over or get resentful of for gumming up the family works.

What are you doing that's helping??

I actually didn't catch it too early and am now kind of a mess. Trying some meds and seeing a therapist along with the program. Having a bad day today but don't know if its my fibro or just the anxiety. Stinks whatever it is. Had a good few days but haven't been able to eat for awhile so I think I'm wearing out a bit. How about you guys...anything helping?
