Hi GardenGirl,

Thanks for the response! It will be nice when they finally get the forum back---it'll be much easier to chat online. Anyway, I hope your weekend is going well, and Spring is in the air where you are----it's in the 50s here in Maryland. Take care! :)

Well I just joined this program and must say I could have cried when I read the post from others that also "live" alone in some form or another.

I am 54 and take care of a very sick husband of 37 years. The marriage died years ago, and he has been so very unwell since late 1986. Diagnose with sever Lupus, then DIalysis, Kidney transplant -failed after 2 years, many other health negatives plus our family had a personal tragedy in 1991. I am a mother of 3 adult daughters, one moved to Scotland recently and the other two I see rarely though speak to or email often. They find it hard with their father. I am trying to make a better life for myself now, as I stopped working in 2006 and am trying to find anything part time right now which as the world knows is difficult.

So far I have been very pleased with the beginnings of the course! But I am navigating through it at my pace and learning curves. It is a little crazy as I have an older discman!

I feel that there should be community groups - everywhere for women that "live alone" or feel they are "on their own" for whatever reason. I am reading more of this and would like to find why there are no "widows groups or 50plus groups for women or it doesn't even matter. It would be nice to socialize as a group, whether to have a "course" group in one's area, living alone support group/social; check-up system; movie night or whatever. I think it can be done and there must be MANY of us out there. I thought I was completely alone until I stumbled on this.

I want to thank you all for sharing your thoughts and feelings here and look forward to hearing back from you as well. My name is Dorothy. :)

Hi Dorothy, Welcome to StressCenter.com! Yes, there are some lonely women out there! Just as i wrote, I'm 56 and feel lonely even though I have family around me. Sometimes, men just aren't enough, as they don't understand what women go through, they think differently that's for sure.

I'm so sorry about your losses and how you have had to manage with a sick husband. You are a very strong woman! Silverlining had urged me to go to Powersurge which is for women going through Menopause or Perimenopause. I went there but haven't actively been on it as the "type" is in white print with colored backdrop and right now my eyes aren't taking a liking to reading print like that. But I did gain some wisdom visiting there but wasn't ready to post more as I can only keep up with a certain amount of email or computer stuff and then my back gets sore or I don't get anything done! LOL!

Anyway, so glad to hear from you, I haven't heard from Cream Cheese lately, so I don't know how she is doing. Or I'm just missing where she is posting. Right now I've been suffering from a really bad cold that I have been lucky to avoid during the fall and winter seasons. Even though DH, two DS's and DD and Grandchildren have been sick. So I guess it is my turn.

Glad to meet you, hope to hear more from you! Paislee

Hi creampuff,

I go a few years on you and living alone and relate totally to what your saying and feeling....I get obsessive, overthink everything, too much time on my hands. My apartment complex dosn't allow pets or I would have one, I think they are great company.
I'd be happy to hear further from you and chat. I too long for some company.

Isabelle
