Changes, How do we make them?
Re: Changes, How do we make them?
J, your doing better then I with the recovery from the economy and bernie and his ilk of a couple years ago,
I lost around 20yrs worth of struggled gain. I am still wrestling with correcting the needed change.
I am really struggleing with the where to go and what to do.
Enough doom and gloom as I can be very critical in my optimisim.
I rarely buy flowers. If at all possible I find wild flowers and bunch them for the Lady. Or it will be a plant of some sort.
Getting close to starting seeds and starts for the garden. Today is daylight savings time change and my up time of the day gets longer. Moral booster for me.
Hunting on the quad. For the most part I do not hunt most critters. Only the nuisance ones like coyotote, fox, free range dogs or cats. Which oddly enough brings up a new problem. The new neibors have 13 cats and 4 dogs. Cats and song birds do not go hand in hand. The problem is cats eat them. So I am tossing plans of eradication methods around the gray matter... to be sure the song birds win. I use the quad to get into nature to places most only dream of and more than likely will never see or touch. I prefer blending in with nature for survival and meditateing it works wonders.
Tina, That Jung fellow is correct, it is about the whole person.

Re: Changes, How do we make them?
Someday W., you will have to explain to me what a "quad" is. I'm familiar with quadruple bypasses, but that's as far as I go with the term "quad". Unless you mean a "quad" on the green, so to speak.
As far as financial recovery, I would say that you are not alone. I now have a job, and I'm going to be selling all of our belongings in storage, (which I should have done years ago, but wasn't emotionally ready) but we are no where near "recovery".
All of our assets are gone and all of DH's retirement accounts have been depleted with the exception of one small account.
We are in debt up to our eyeballs, and his cabin was put on the auction block and sold to the bank.
But, there is no where to go but up, and I have always liked a challenge. I'm sorry that the economy hurt you so badly. I have heard it over and over again. Everyone lost all of their hard earned savings. It is really sickening. Plus, we are living longer.
What will become of us. I see opportunities for community living, maybe? I like to think of ideas. If we were to all gather together and share meals and gardens and work/skills such as carpentry, cooking etc., this could be the wave of the future.
As long as everyone goes home to their own homes at night.
Cat lady/neighbor must be weird. I think anyone is slightly weird when they own too many cats.
Have a great day R.
I have time on my hands today, but then will be working 8 days straight, starting tomorrow.
Go to the market and buy a sprig of basil and put it in a glass jar for your wife. Basil smells lovely, and is so useful too.
Cheers.

"quad" term used for a 4 wheel all terrain vehicle.

Re: Changes, How do we make them?
Remember, J, when I saw only 3 wheels and you saw the correct 4 in a rare picture R put up once? R, you always, always make me laugh even when you perhaps don't mean to. It is your way of saying things. I can never read a book again and not think about napping.
I am sorry about your losses. Painful, to be sure. But, believe it or not, they can have other, less obvious, but good effects. The material was put in its proper place with the example of those who left ALL their worldly possessions behind. We were not poor. In fact, well to do, I'd say. My father and his brother worked long, hard hours for years to build what they so courageously left behind.......completely. What counts are freedom, health, and love (and no war, no earthquakes, no floods, no fires, etc.). Yes, nature, especially where you can experience it as you do, is a piece of heaven on earth.
Boss says we're dining out today. Really? Where? The Broadmoor? The Brown Palace? No. We are stepping out to Faziolis. Oh, he's a good one. May pick up some basil. Like your suggestion, J.
Hope P is OK, Happy day.

Today, in fact, in 1938, is the day the Anschluss (Annexation) of Austria occurred.
Re: Changes, How do we make them?
I may be in left field, allthough all things factored in there is a eriee familliarity to what is happening in these times right before our eyes. It took along time for the wall to come down after the untold devastation of millions.
America's Liberty is the only real opponet and we have leaders currently voteing present instead of makeing a stand, be it right or wrong, the passive or lukewarm allways falls.

These are indeed very tough times, R. The appeasers, pleasers, indecisive types have proven fatal in the past. Where is a Churchill? But the bloodshed today with the proliferation of unimaginable arms would leave very little intact.
Just read On the Beach, a bestseller back in the 1960's. Never read it then. People remember the movie. It is about what could also happen today in a much more volatile world situation. So, who knows? A small country blasts off and it's over. That's what happens in the book. The author is Nevil Shute. Not much napping.

Re: Changes, How do we make them?
Tina, I do remember the picture of R. in his Quad, and I do remember the discussion about the amount of wheels.
You're funny.
I'm reading The Girl Who Plays With Fire, which is the 2nd book after The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Sweden and crimes against women. Lovely.
I want more photos of you lovely people.
PS
I just looked at my schedule for the next two weeks. 4-12midnight and then 12midnight - 8am. I'm not sure I can do this, but I will give it all I've got. I've learned everything except now I need to learn all of the alarm systems for the hospital. I know code blue and rapid response and code pink (baby is stolen) and now I've learned code silver (a shooter in the hospital)....
Sigh...now I need to learn about fire codes and steam codes and alarms.
I hope I can do this. It's important not to panic. I assembled a group of on call doctors for the O.R. the other night. Very Cool.
It all starts at the switchboard. You would be amazed.
Tina, your book worries me. It could happen. I don't like our President at all. He spent less then 1 minute (I think) discussing Japan, and the rest of the time talked about the Middle East and Oil. He should have talked to us about that last week or the week before. It felt like he was burying the story because we are all focused on Japan. He was diverting our attention for some reason. (imho)

Re: Changes, How do we make them?
Work: much to be responsibe for, but you can do it, J. The 4-midnight shift is manageable. Midnight to 8 might be another matter. Is this 5 days in a row each shift?
Your books might interest R. My books are mostly determined by Book Club Prez (son). He picked On the Beach much to my surprise. Inbetween he slips in non-fiction (usually alone) and I do my shrink stuff (alone). This association has been one of the great gifts in the past 5 years or so. We mainly read classics.
What can I say about Barry O? He has his hands full. He is a moment in history, but does he know where he's going? There is one disaster after another. What superhuman could deal with it? Everything and everyone is inflammatory. Hide with my book and pillow.
Soon off to dine. We do a midday deal. Evening is oatmeal, or avocado, or salad, etc. Light. Maybe I'll get him to do yoga. I taught him the Sun Salutation. He does it. Get credit for it too. Now I'm trying him with Tai Chi (not that I know much). Exercise was excluded from 7 Wonders and is complaining bitterly.
