Thoughts, only thoughts.

Post by frankg » Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:50 pm

what a great defense! negative thoughts have hindered my growth, both personally and professionally. this is one great session. i've heard it said that 'you are you're own worst enemy'...why do we do that? people can be mean enough (don't get me wrong, i know there are a lot of great people, too) why beat ourselves up??? my negativity had cost me so much...2 wives...3 houses...two dogs...and countless potential friendships. i make a great first impression. i appear to be so self-confident and positive until my thoughts bring me down. i'm going to really try and break this 'bad habit'. they are THOUGHTS, ONLY THOUGHTS. like what was said, we need to talk to ourselves like how we talk to other people we love. good luck to everyone!

Hi Frankg--You're right, negative thoughts are frustrating indeed. Glad you are feeling better and I'm sorry you had to lose 2 wives, houses and dogs because of it. paislee

i like to repeat that to myself too ... when i am thinking negative and i catch myself i just accept, and give myself permission to think nevative thoughts, thats when i repeat to myself "thoughts, only thoughts" and remind myself i am a recovering addict of negative thoughts! that sucks all we miss out on b/c of this disorder but at least now we know what we gotta do =D
