Thinking about yourself less

hey faith,
my counselor actually has a great way of putting it.
(I think that Lucinda has said it too)
instead of focusing on "what if?", focus on "what IS".
when i find my mind escalating down a worrisome path, i pull back by focusing on what IS.
for example, my hands are warm. i'm relaxed. my stomach is full. the sun is out. etc, etc, etc.
by focusing on the reality of the MOMENT, and what IS (& not what if), you literally force yourself out of the "dark" path.
it takes work, but keep reminding yourself of the focus of What IS, and this should help.

I've done the writing technique that gettingfree mentioned and it sure gets down to emptying a lot of surprising junk that has been in your head. Things that you have unknowingly hidden from yourself. It's a little shocking at first but I found it to be really helpful in getting down to the nitty gritty.
