Hello! I was diagnosed with GAD & Hashimoto's and my endocrinologist prescribed me Wellbutrin for my anxiety attacks. I'm scared to take it! I'm already on .125 mg of xanax twice a day for the past 6 months. But, he says I need a antidepressant as well. I also want to quit smoking and he said that Wellbutrin would help with that as well. Should I take it? Has anyone had any experience with this drug?
xoxo!

I take the generic welbutrin, but I don't think it's for panic attacks, because I'm on zoloft too and my doctor said that one's more for anxiety. I don't smoke, so I don't know anything about that.
I haven't had any negative side effects from the welbutrin though, if that helps any.
Maybe it would help to see a psychiatrist?

I looked up your Hashimoto's to see what it was, if this is right
{Hashimoto's thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease where the body's own T-cells attack the cells of the thyroid. It was the first disease to be recognised as an autoimmune disease. This disorder is believed to be the most common cause of primary hypothyroidism in North America.}
and if xanax & Wellbutrin are the only treatments your Dr. has you on, my advice to you would be get a better Dr. But if he is also treating your thyroid as well as the symtoms{GAD}then you could talk to your pharmacist, and look up information about the drugs online and call the 1 800 # that came with your program and ask someone there what they know about your condition and meds. Then when you have all the info make your decision to take or not to take the stuff. I took the wellbutrin to help me stop smoking { I still smoke} but because I have a high level of distrust for all pharmaceuticals I stopped taking it faster than I started.So I will not commit on if you should take it or not. But get informed and then decide what you beleive is best for you. good luck.
