Does anyone or has anyone ever taken Nortriptyine before? My doctor just put me on it today and I was woundering if anyone knows how it is. Just woundering.

Yes. This tricyclic anti-depressant was prescribed for me once in the early 80's. I did not stay on it. I don't remember if it worked or not.
I think it works a lot like elavil.
The tricyclic anti-depressants got so they'd increase my heart rate and I'm a little afraid of them today. But I can't take the new one's either.
I ended up taking a mood stablizor.

The best thing is to discuss all the pro's and cons with your doctor.
Sometimes the doctor has to try several to see which ones will work best for you.
It seems everyone is different and reacts to meds very differently.
Best of luck.

Hi there!
I am glad that it is working for you!
Hope you are feeling much better.
It is so good when you find one that will work.
They really can make a difference.
And now you can be working on the program. Which I've found to be very helpful.
Best of luck.
God bless!

hello,
this drug was one of the first anti depressants.

i was given it back in the late 70's for depression. i did'nt know i had depression. but i sure knew i had ocd and anxiety.

if anything the drug made me more anxious.

it did work very well for sleep.

and i craved sweets.

i went off of it because i was preg.

i really don't know why they started you on this one, but now i'm on lexapro after trying most all the new ones. i won't change them again.

you may have blurry vision and dry mouth for awhile. they went away after awhile.

to sum it up, it helped with sleep but not with anxiety/ depression
