I have been on anti depressants for almost 7 weeks now and the past 3 weeks I have been having very intense dreams and nightmares. Two in a row that my mother died. That one is the worst. All my dreams are so vivid and colorful and weird and I wake uop feeling so uncomfortable, sweaty and out of it because of my dreams and I think about them for the rest of the day. Its terrible. I know that this is because of the anti depressants because before taking them I never had dreams that got to me so much. I did have some weird dreams but not every night. Its like i dream once i fall asleep till i wake up I dream. I hate hate hate it!! Has anyone else experienced this with their anti depressants?? Does this pass? I didnt get this in the beginning of treatment but just 3 weeks ago. How do I not let these weird scary dreams get to me when i am awake? I truly think this is why i get a lot of derealization during the day. .. because my dreams make me feel so weird when I am awake. I am also on ativan and just started buspar so i know is not the ativan and buspar that make me dream so much because I just started the buspar and iv been taking ativan for a while. Anyway, does this stop???!!! Last time i was on an anti depressant I had weird dreams too and when i got off them the dreams stopped. . .

I had very vivid, but not scary dreams at about the 2-3 month mark of taking the meds, they have since stopped, I still get some vivid dreams but they have decreased over time. Just remember they are just dreams, dont read into them at all. I am sure with time they will subside. I also attribute the dreams to sleeping better and deeper.

I can relate and I'm with Noelle on this. I think the deeper sleep causes them. They used to stick with me and color my day both good and bad but more often bad. I learned to remind myself that the dreams were not real and put them in perspective as soon as I awake and now they don't usually bother me much anymore.

Hi Holly, My name is Jasmine and when I first started taking Seroquel, my boyfriend read that people who take this have reported having vivid dreams, but I dont remember goign through anything like that. I do however remember perspiring a whole lot more than I used to and always being parched. I know its an awkward topic to talk about, but hey, someone's gotta do it. =) That also happened whenever I added an anxiety medicine or changed the dosage to more or less. I guess that is your body's way of adjusting to the effects of the medication. Did you or anyone else feel this way or experience this or somthing similar?
