I am taking an anti depressant right now and since i still have anxiety my dr prescribed Buspar 15mgs twice a day. I am a but nervous to take it but i hope it helps. Anyone ever take this? Please only positive responses :D I dont want to hear anything negative about it right now. I wont even look it up online or anything because I'd rather not know the side effects or read anything bad about it. Thanks all.

Take it if your doc thinks you need it. I have heard of many people that have had success with it. Thinking of you.

Holly,
I am on an anti-anxiety med and I used to think it was a weakness in me that I had to take it. But, if I were a diabetic or had heart problems I wouldn't think twice about taking the meds I needed to live. Our mind is no different than other parts that sometimes need hekp to get us on the right track. I hope with the anxiety program I can eventually go off the med but if not, I will just thank God that the meds are out there to help. Hang in there and don't judge yourself. What would you say to a dear friend? Well, say it to yourself. You deserve good mental health too! I will pray for you as I do all of us who struggle with this.

There was once a time I didnt need Lexapro, but life happens, our body chemistry changes and I am soo happy I have the Lex to help me feel balanced again. Just be glad you have these meds to help you. People take meds throughout there lives to help them so dont feel bad about it, its a part of living.

I took Buspar for awhile. I found it to be much more mild than Xanax. Not as many ups and downs.

thank you Noelle and faith. See i have no idea what buspar really is. Is it like Benzo but not a Benzo or is it more like an anti depressant for anxiety and it takes a while for it to work into your system? I wont look it up because I know me and i will read all the side effects and be scared.

You're a smart girl not to look it up. I can never resist then I scare myself!!

Have you taken it yet?

Buspar is one that you have to take regularly and not "as needed" like Xanax is. It has to sort of build up in your system. It may take a few days to work.

I do remember that you're not supposed to eat a lot of grapefruit while taking it ((((shrug)))).

Xanax and Buspar don't work the same at all.

I didn't take it for very long. There wasn't anything terrible about it (unusual for me haha) it just wasn't as strong as some of the others, and actually at the time I was trying to get stable on Tofranil. That finally started working well and I didn't need anything with it.

P.S. it's not a Benzo.
