I agree with Want2feelGoodAgain. I use to take klonopin for about 8 months and had some serious withdrawal effects when I stopped cold turkey for a particular reason. Do some research on the drug if you haven't because it can help with asking your doctor questions that you may not know to ask. If you take it make sure you follow your doctor's advice and the information that is provided with the medication. It is a common medication and just like any other medication you have to take it as directed.

Hello Melissa, I was just in your place two weeks ago. I had so much fear about taking meds. My doctor wanted me to start taking 2 mg of valium. I just took half 1 mg at first when I took it, I had so much anxiety I was thinking to my self I will never take this again than about 30 mins after I took it the valium started to work the anxiety went away. I did have a little dizziness not to bad. The next day I took a half ,no dizziness just clam. It felt weird I was clam! My doctor said I can take 2mgs twice a day are I can take it as needed. I think am going to take it as need. As for the Ativan my sister is a PA in the ER. She takes ativan as need (bad night in the ER.) Talk with your doctor about your fears and concerns. You can e-mail me if you need to talk more. Susan

I take Klonopin as needed for anxiety and panic. While those who have posted here are right that if you're put on a regular dose that you're to take every day, you will need to be stepped down off of it, you can also take it just when you really need it without too much side effects. Either way, you should discuss it in depth with your doctor.

I just started taken one Klonipen at night - and already I am sleeping through the night with no night sweats or shakes. My doc suggested taking Xanax during the day if needed and using the Klonipen only at night. Remember it is for a season to help your body get calmed down. Your doc can advise you best. Hang in there!
