I have been taking .25 of Klonopin 3x a day since Aug 14. I am slowly trying to taper off, feeling some withdrawal symptoms, panic, shakiness, and insomnia. Does anyone have any suggestions? Positive responses only please, my anxiety is bad enough :)

I was taking the same amount of Clonazepam for years. I weaned off several years ago. I did have minor side effects while weaning from the dose but they didn't last long. Be patient and make sure you slowly wean yourself. I think it was the right decision for me. I feel soo much better now not being on any medicines. Good luck and God bless.

Thanks for your encouragement. About how long did it take you to wean? I have just started by shaving about 1/4 off my afternoon dose. Did you have similar withdrawal effects?

I was on 2mg of Klonopin a day since June, am down to 1mg in 2 1/2 months of tapering. I actually quarter a .5mg pill, and don't go any quicker than every 10 days or so. I really don't feel too many w/drawal effects going this slow. I did it successfully about 3 yrs ago too, after being on it a year. Just go VERY SLOWLY. I go down by 0.125 and no more. Best of luck, and just know it can be done. God Bless. Know also that some of the withdrawal symptoms can actually be a return of the original symptoms you took the med for and you may not be ready to go off meds. I usually go off while taking or after starting a SSRI. I am on 10mg of Lexapro to help because I went ON the Klonopin for a reason, and know that this disease does not just "go away". I hate being on Benzos but they are absolutely necessary sometimes, and have saved my life, but I agree are inteded for short term use. I hope all goes well. Feel free to PM if you need anything.
