Has anyone had this?
I did the program in 2004 with great success (an encouragement to anyone just starting) but am having a little setback which is now bearable and manageable but still scary. It always seems that my anxiety symptoms are uncommon (icy hot patches, tingling scalp). I get bouts of insomnia because my panic attacks hit me in the middle of the night so i started to fear going to sleep and right before bed i felt this strong urge to go pee so i would go every ten minutes until i fell asleep. Then it started during the day. Went to a urologist and i don't have a UTI and he put me on detrol 5 days ago(i'm 39 and it's mainly intended for the elderly!). My heart of hearts tells me it's psychosomatic but the constant urge is making me crazy. Want to know if others have experienced this and hear your success stories (no bad experiences, please!). Thank you for your support!
Yes, I can relate to you. I started the program three yrs ago and got well enough I did not finish. The anxiety is back but not totally out of control like before. I have management skills this time around. I do go to the bathroom alot when I am anxious and my new thing is itching in my hands, feet and it spreads throughout my body. I have figured out I can control this with positive self talk and the breathing exercises.
Grace said 2 things of very great significance, first that she felt better and didn't finish the program, whoa, I did the same thing and i regret it. Get back into that workbook and read it over several times because we always miss something the first time and also to refresh yourself with the program and the tools we can use.
Second thing she said is that she CAN control this! That is the key folks! It is the thinking that gets us where we are or where we want to be!! Where we are tomorrow is where our thinking has been today. Every human faces stress, it is how we handle it that determines the outcome. Let me suggest all the books by Dr. Claire Weekes. She was a former sufferer and figured out how to conquer it.
Hey people, we can overcome this, it is simply learning how to overcome and putting it to use, I know this firsthand.
Best to you!

Small1, I thought having this symptom was going to drive me out of my mind too! I couldn't figure out what it had to do with anxiety. It started a couple of months ago and while it's not always there, I have days where it's with me all day long. That constant urge to have to go pee. My Doctor didn't seem to think it was anything physical. And he's the one who keeps stressing me to get this anxiety under control, which I definitely know I have to do.
