The economy
Is anyone else very anxious over the financial state of the US right now? I keep hearing things about recession and depression. Frankly, it's freaking me out and I'm wondering if this is causing anxiety for others, too.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Frank Herbert
"How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And, so it is with life, which for many of us becomes one big test followed by one big lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word: grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, darkness and the light."

I definitely think its heightening my anxiety. I have a family member who had one of those adjustable mortgages and their house is now in foreclosure.
Everytime you turn on the Tv and the radio/newspaper that's all you hear about. I can only take so much. Maybe its avoidance behavior but I limit the amount media coverage on this topic becasue its so scary.
I am second guessing myself when I am out shopping. If I can't purchase it with cash, I'm not buying it.
I pray for all who are in finiacal (?sp) straits may God help them out of it. Hopefully the government can come up with something to help out main street America and make those ie) corpoartions responsible for this accountable.
Just my two cents. Take care and God Bless.

YES! Both my fiance and I quit our decent paying jobs in Ohio to go on a road trip/adventure that ended us up in Nevada. He still hasn't found work and it's just me supporting us on a meager salary. My anxiety has me lamenting over all the wasted money we should have been saving when we were both working...as well as over the money I had to take out of savings when the unexpected arose on our little adventure out here. Then all the what-if start in. BUT, I can't change the past. What I can do is be as smart as possible, pay myself first (savings), stop using credit cards, and cut out the non-essentials (you know, like cable tv, internet, movie rentals, etc). Hopefully that will be enough. I just keep reminding myself that if my Great-Grandparents and Grandparents made it throught the Great Depression...I'll make it through this.

The sky is not falling. Everything is going to be ok. The mess we're in took years to develop and it won't be fixed overnight by a heroic bill with bickering across the aisle. We can take comfort in the fact that McDonald's is still flipping hamburgers, Home Depot is still selling lawn furniture and interior paint, and the dollar still gets you what you need- gas, food, etc-even if it is at a higher cost. It's going to be ok.
