Well guys, I am just north of Galveston....about 20-25 minutes. We have decided to ride out the storm! It doesn't look like the traffic is too bad for those evacuating. Last time, with Rita, people were driving for 15 to 24 hours just to get well out of Houston! Some people took 1 1/2 to 2 days just to get to San Antonio, Austin and other areas that are only normally a 3 to 5 hour drive from us. Anyway...
We are all boarded up...have small generators, and are PRAYING that no trees fall on our houses...and that power won't be out too long. Please be praying for us. I have never had to ride a storm out like this...at least not that I can remember. (was very young) PRAYERS PLEASE!!!

Please keep us posted! I watch the storms b/c I know someone in most regions. My aunt works in Houston and lives near Victoria. Just got word that she's on the other side of the state.
Just went through Gustav here, and Katrina and George before that.
The good that came from loss of power was neighbors pulling together and cooking food that was thawing out. We all got to know each other again and to spend time talking to family as well. It's so easy to come in & turn on the tv and not communicate. Hey,there's a silver lining everywhere, right?
PLEASE say safe and we'll be praying for ya'll. Let us know when you can, OK?

Holly CRAP! This hurricane was really bad! I just got power and internet back today. We live on a main road, so were only without power for a week. It has been something else. No food, no gas, no power....
My family is all safe and we actually had minor damage compared to most in this area....so I am thankful.
I have never seen ANYTHING like this. Wow...what an eye opener.
Anyway...just wanted to let everyone know I am alive and well. We have a plumbing company, so of course we are back at work and VERY busy. Thanks for your prayers.

Frances,
So glad you are all ok and thank goodness the tropics are quiet for the moment. Praying that they will stay that way and that your area has a speedy rebuilding effort.
