I've been on Lex (5mg) for 20 days now, and I've had an upset stomach every day the entire time. It had mellowed me out as far as my depression (I don't feel as hopeless as I used to) but I don't really feel like myself either, and I'm too afraid to increase dosage because of my stomach. My doc recommended effexor, but I am too scared of it because I have heard from more then one person that if you dont take it at the same exact time every day then you feel suicidal. I've thought about Cymbalta, but I just dont know. Truthfully it took me SUCH a LONG time to accept that I needed meds, and start them, that now I'm petrified of switching. I know no one here can give me the right answer I just needed to vent and needed support.

im on effexor rx and I don't take it at the same time every day. as a matter of fact if you don't take it at the same time every day the only thing i have experienced is dizziness. thats about it. I am feeling a little better since I have been on it.

Stick with the Lex, it will all level off and you will start to feel better with time. I have been on it for 5 months now and it has worked wonders.

I think people are too quick to pull themsleves off these meds. I too had a rough initial start up on Lex, stomach problems, increased anxiety, but these are all normal start up SE of these meds, they DO go away. You need to give the meds at least 2-6 weeks to see improvements, even if they are small improvemnts with time they become huge improvements. I felt crappy the first 2 weeks, felt better by week 4, ande each week thereafter it gets better, now at 5 months I feel fantastic no more anxiety at all, no more worrying, obsessive thoughts, no more PMDD. I feel like me, no SE, just fantastic. I never wanted to start these meds, but soooo glad I did.

So if you are just starting up I suggest you try and stick with it.
