Personal Support Worker
Hi Maeggie. What is PSW
I'm just starting the program so I'm trying the support group to see how it works..I'm trying to relax and take one little bit at a time.. Usually I will spend every waking moment doing a new thing I even can't sleep...then I find it is to time consuming and give up... dose anyone else feel like this and how can I get a balance.....

Hi Vicky, A PSW is a Personal Support Worker, someone who assists the elderly or children in daily living.
I can tell you that I have had the program for a year in Nov, and am much much much better. The one thing I do know is you are not alone! I have been in the midst of the overwhelming feeling to the point of suicide thoughts. The one thing I do know is:
1. have patience with yourself. The key to feeling better is positive self talk, not just talking to yourself in a nice way but being able to take in thoughts as positive even when they are negative as well as knowing you are your own safe person. I guaruntee if you are consistant with self talk and patience you will eventually find that the good feelings last longer, at first just a few seconds then minutes and hours..
2. Try and realize that in the beginning it is overwhelming, the concepts, the need to recover, the feelings become worries and an obsession in its own right. When you wake up tomorrow forget you have any issues with anxiety and depression, begin living in the momment and using the relaxation CD will help with that A LOT! by pretending you dont have any issues and going forward will allow the tools to develop (thats the other thing, once you get farther into the program you realize they build on one another and the overall concept develops and you begin to live differently whch becomes the new habit hence recovery)..
Please keep in touch and best wishes!

Maeggie -- Very good points here. Once you go thru the program you see how it all builds on each session and once the overall concept develops, it is life changing. So much so that I've gone thru the program three times now because I want to keep this reinforced as much as I can. Obsessive? Maybe -but I don't care, because this has helped me more than therapy ever did.
Hi Maeggie,
I was working as a PSW but due to a back injury from the job I had to stop. I also hhave fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, IBS, and all the reasons I am here. I carried a hard and heavy work load and it took it's toll on my body and emotions. So sad to see such bad things that good people were going through but I loved my work and miss it so so much. I hope one day I might be able to do it again. Anyway not sure why you wanted to know but saw your post and wanted to let you know.

Yes I know exactly how you feel and I am also just starting the program. I would also like to know how to get balance in every thing I do.
