hi holly, i have never gotten any thoughts of suicide and all the people i have known that has taken antidepressants hasnt felt that way too.My older sister took Zoloft for a whole year and now shes doing fine. i told that once to my psychiatrist and he said that thats false is more based on your personality type like Lucinda said in this program that it shouldnt be a concern if your afraid of death, i also told my therapist about that same concern and she said to me that when people suicide and they blame the meds for it, it wasnt the meds that made them do it, it was because the person had severe deppression and sometimes the parents dont want to realize that their child has a problem till is too late. trust me I rather keep taking my meds then have does bad symptoms again and end up at the e.r just for the Docs to give me valum. hope this helps ;)

Holly J,
I have backed away from constant posts on this blog, as I have started to feel much better due to the med I am on. Let you doctor decide which AD is best for you. Trust the knowledge and experience they offer. AD has saved my life. I got your post about hormones, and did not reply because I am simply on information overload. Blaming my issues on hormones may be correct, but at this point, as I feel I am climbing out of my hole because of the AD, I just can't obsess about my feeling right now. Let you doctor help you. Mine has recommended nutrtion managment also. It is helping me. It is working. It takes time. It takes work. You are a strong and courageous young women, I can tell by your posts. Hang in there, you are going to get better, I promise. I know because I was 23 and anxious many years ago. I got better. You will too.

Take Care,
Martha

Holly J,

Since 2000 I have been on--for various periods of times--Paxil, Effexor, Zoloft and currently Lexapro. In all that time and including now, I have never felt suicidal because of the meds.

Take heart.

Hi Holly,

I went on an AD because I had thoughts of suicide. It took 6 weeks for me to feel the AD and never had thoughts of suicide over the 2 years I took it. My doctor told me that reading all the bad things ( side affects ) of any med can plant all the negatives that may only have affected a few people out of thousands. I stopped reading and just listened to my body. If something different started to take place that I felt was not a good thing then I would go back to my doctor. You know the old saying " nothing ventured, nothing gained ". Good Luck!!

Just one day at a time!!!!
