fischee:

For what it is worth, I'm impressed with Dr. Bradley's website. It seems very informative and upfront. I'm surprised that his initial consultation is 3 hours long, but that is probably good. It looks like you'll be getting a lot of personalized attention. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good luck.

Yes I use Chinese herbs a lot and they are very effective. I use American, Chinese and Ayurvedic blends as well as homeopathics, essential oils, bach flower remedies - the whole works. Amazing stuff and I thank God every day for providing us with this wonderful healing pharmacy.

I received my certification for acupressure practitioner from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine years ago and had my own practice for awhile. We used Chinese herbs for everything and they were effective, but can be very potent so it is a very good idea to have someone who is qualified prescribe them for you.

Yes I've heard of them but it's been so long since I've worked with any of them I'd have to dig out my Chinese medicine books, and god only knows where they are by now. Sorry.

I agree 100 percent with Mary about this. If you go to someone, find out where they got their credentials.

Just an interesting website: <A HREF="http://www.americanchinesemedicineassoc ... cation.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://www.americanchinesemedicineassoc ... ion.htm</A>

VERY informative site, Pecos- thanks! (I owe you a PM... :D *feel guilty*)

I know I've promoted this book a bazillion times (no, I am not the author, nor do I play one on TV- HA!), but it truly has become my bible of cross-reference for alternative health- Prescription for Natural Cures.

I looked in the appendix and found the following recommended websites:

Acupuncture/pressure-

Ayurvedic Medicine-

Herbal Medicine-

<A HREF="http://www.herbs.org" TARGET=_blank>www.herbs.org</A>

Homeopathy-

Naturopathic Medicine-

I have not looked at all of these sites but hope they might be a helpful start.

Blessings,
Emily

Thanks for your vote of confidence, Inner Peace! Keep us posted about your consult. I've decided to make an appointment for naturopathy and HOPE to find time tomorrow. Wonder how long it will take to get in?

OK- I made an appt. with Dr. Bradley for Tues., Aug 19. I was told to keep a diet diary for one week, bring all vitamins/supplements/Rx meds and provide any recent lab work. (I'm having my throat and stomach scoped next Friday due to on-going acid reflux and past bouts with bulimia.)

I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks for everyone's advice and support!
Emily
