Barb Im so glad you read the post with an open mind and Im touched that you shared it with hubby....you will break your bad habits...I promise it can be done. Remember we have lived almost a lifetime with these patterns and thats the ONLY reason they are so tough to break becuase we are used to them we do them like we breath we dont have to think (funny cuz its the thinking that gets us into trouble ) but you know what I mean.
Your doing a good job...your open to change and I know you can do the work. You have an amazing husband...give that man a squeeze you got a partner that really CARES about you and your family. Thats fantastic!
Barb I have been in your shoes sometimes I would say what on earth would I ever say if it wasnt a gossip or a complaint. Not very much fun for others to be around and the ones who were determined to be around me (family) started to pick up some of those habits.
Change is hard but its doable. Of course we will always make little slips and thats OK it happens Life is always going up, down and all around so we are bound to get a little confused but you stand up dust off and start over.....thats the beauty of it all....
Hang in there Barb you can do it. Next time you talk to son you recognize the desire to want to lead him.....and when it comes on say in your STOP and redirect. You watch in a few conversations you WILL see change and it will get easier and easier to do.
Love you BARB!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

"How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And, so it is with life, which for many of us becomes one big test followed by one big lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word: grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, darkness and the light."

Hi. Wow, Dodger. You really nailed this situation. Sometimes it's what we need -- good old fashioned in your face, this is what you are doing. Barb, I sincerely hope the tattered edges of this whole family thing begin to smooth out. I don't have enough family to fill a thimble anymore, and I'd almost enjoy sitting in the middle of a kitchen table battle just to see parents and siblings and children. For those people, you are rich to have them. Best, Pecos.
P.S. Will you update us on this family issue?

You guys are all so awesome. Yeah Holly thanks for thinking of me. The depression has not totally lifted. It's better and someone I've been trying to help came to our church today. She ended up sitting with my husband tho because I forgot I had to work in the nursery. I didn't get to talk to her a lot after church. I've been super tired today.
Dodger, You are great. Thank you for reminding me of my wonderful husband. I don't always treat him real good. He took me out for Chinese, let me take a nap and now he's planting a snowball bush for me
I better show my appreciation right? I need to practice the attitude of gratitude more again. Funny, you do it for a while and then all of a sudden you're into complaining again.
Pecos, you are very special too and if you were here, I'd gladly share my family with you. My hubby's side is really great. My niece just moved to Reno, NV but is coming back next month to go on a trip to NC. She's into the Nascar thing. She's 25 and planned out the trip for her mom, dad and us! Not her cousins. Imagine her wanting to be with us old foogies!! Well, pecos you want to come along??
I'm going to work on the things you all said. God bless you all. Hope you're having a great weekend.
Oh, I asked this on another post but didn't get an answer. Is there anyone else who gets affected with depression and fatigue from hot, humid weather? I do so much better when it's in the 70's and I can have fresh air going thru the house. We have air cond. but it still seems to affect me. Any suggestions???

Barb, I will be with you in spirit. I think your niece knows sometimes the elders are more fun! As for the hot feelings, I am in the midst of menopause, so I know it's not just the weather. I don't know for sure, but maybe our adrenaline shoots up during those hot flash moments? A glass of ice water helps me temporarily.
I am honored to be in the same company! Dogs rule, don't tell the cats. I have about twenty homeless cats I take care of at my parents house in town, plus three here on the ranch. My dogs are kings of my heart.
Some of my friends coined that nickname for me years ago, because we played on the Rio Pecos, as we always called our Pecos River. Viva Rio Pecos! It's one of my favorite places, especially after big rains, when the banks run over in certain areas.
