I get that way too. I am out of shape as well, but my heart races pretty easily. It is scary. I am sorry it is worrying you.

Hi there,

Have u been checked out by ur doctor? I used to have a lot of the heart pounding and racing and they eventually had to put me on B/P med. They say that 1 out of every 3 people have pre-hypertension and don't even know it. Every since I have been on B/P med I don't have the racing heart nearly as often. I'm hoping once I can get a grip on this anxiety thing and lose a little bit of weight that I will be able to get off all meds. Try not to worry about it so much and consult with ur doc. Good luck!

hot weather makes me feel icky as well....try not to do your heavy house cleaning, or walking in the mid-day when the air is the heaviest and the sun is the hottest. Try either getting up earlier and doing before 10am or kinda laying back and staying indoors till after dinner then go out and enjoy the sunset and the lighter air. Especially in these hot humid dog days of summer. I notice that when the weather is less humid and is more breezy I feel much better.

Do you feel these racy heart feelings when you do cleaning or walking on cooler days? If yes then I might suggest you take a vist to doctor just to check things out...doesnt mean you have anything whatsoever wrong but it will give you that peice of mind....If no these things do not happen when the weather is not so hot and humid then I would say you might just be sensitive to the heat. No big deal just be aware of it and drink lots of cold cold water and conserve your energy during the really hot hours of the day.

Last week where I live was horrible the high heat and humidity sucked....I was stuck doing things indoors with the blinds all drawn and the air cranked but we went out in the evenings and enjoyed those hours. Its ok to have to make adjustments to life to accomodate ourselves...bottom line is to feel good right?!
Hope this helped you.

Hello Idaly158:
I too get the heart racing thing out of the blue for no apparent reason. I ended up in the ER in December, my heart was racing also my pulse and nothing I would do (deep breaths or anything else would slow it down). My heart was monitored in the ER for a few hours and eventually is went back to it's normal rhythmn. My doctor seems to think its hormonal (perimenopause). I was really scared though. I certainly know how you are feeling. The way I try to look at is nothing happened to me (thank God) and that moment passed. I still get palpitation off and on and skipped beats but I try not to focus on that feeling. Try to exercise, go for a walk, listen to nice music, talk to a good friend and not dwell on how you are feeling. I know it is easier said than done, but I know that is what I am working each and every day. Hope this helps.

I get the racing heart when I exercise, and also get lightheaded. I tried working out at a gym and ALWAYS got that way. I talked to my doc. He said it's because I'm out of shape and not used to it. He says when you exercise it realeases endorphins (or something like that!) and since I'm not used to it, it makes me feel funny which makes me have anxious episodes. He says to start REALLY slowly. Oh, he also says to make sure to eat a high protein snack before exercising if you're not used to it because your blood sugar can drop and make you feel funny and then panic, too. But again start really slowly. And remember that you are not alone and that you will be okay!
