Need some postitve feedback
I just started the program about a month ago. It helped a lot in the begining...and I felt so much better. Well, tonight I am having a bad night. I woke up for no reason and just started my "what if" thinking...and next thing you know Im having a panic attack!! My fear is I dont want to get as bad as I was or worse. And these thoughts bring on the panic! My question is, does anyone else have a long period of time when they feel great and then all of sudden you feel back to square one?? If so, I would like some positive feedback on how to get through the rough spots!! Also, sometimes when I listen to the relaxation CDs it makes me remember how bad it was and that brings on panic/anxiety...thanks for listening and I would appreciate any advice!!
Yes Amy and it's not a set back either. You are obviously on your way to recovery and now you have the tools to conquor this. So use these skills/tools that you are forgetting you have for the moment and when you look back you can already see the growth within yourself.I am so proud of you, there are so many that can't even say that they are as far into this as you, so just continue to build on what you have and use these instances as building blocks on how to make you stronger. Remember to float with it don't fight, help others in need, Love, be patient, persevere, and continue to practice what you've learned. God Bless

Amy,
I'm on week 7 and taking some exta time with it but when those episodes pop up for me the first thing I tell myself is you worked through this before with these new tools and they worked so keep the faith and keep using them. For me it has made it easier to get through the hiccups along the way by knowing I had used the tools successfully before. That puts the whole thing into prospective and I don't start what ifing because I know what I'm dealing with now.
Good luck and keep your chin up you're doing a great job.

Amy,
I could have written your post. I have those spells, as I call them. My husband reminds me how far I've made it. Sometimes I forget- can't see the forrest for the trees so to speak. I don't think we could go back where we were. We have learned from the program and changed, but the change isn't overnight and does take time. Sometimes it goes at a snail's pace and it makes me wonder if I'm stuck or could go back.
Don't forget to relisten to the earlier tapes or browse the workbooks when you feel you are slipping. There are lots of Cd's of music that are relaxing too if you need a change sometimes.
