I was reading a book last night and I read something very inspiring. A woman who was going through a very long and hard divorce decided to write a petition for peace and happiness in her life to God. After she wrote the petition, she thought of every single person who would sign it. Every single person who would want her to have peace and happiness, not just people she knew or people who are alive, but every single person she could think of who would want her to feel content and peaceful. She mentally signed her petition for each person that popped into her mind. Her parents, her siblings, her family, her friends, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mother Theresa, Abraham Lincoln, etc.

So I thought, what a great idea. Why not write a petition to God, or whomever/whatever it is you believe in, for your own peace of mind and happiness in life and mentally sign it for everyone who would want you to be happy, including yourself.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Frank Herbert

"How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And, so it is with life, which for many of us becomes one big test followed by one big lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word: grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, darkness and the light."

I LOVE this idea, Karilynn- thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of an Am. Lit. teacher who had her students write a Declaration of Independence (most wrote it in regard to their parents- teenagers;*)!). Why don't we all declare independence and freedom from our fears and phobias today? I think this compliments Emma's "Amnestity from Anxiety" day rather well.

If there is anyone out there working for Hallmark- this could be a goldmine!
