I dont take any ssri's because they give me bad side effects but i do have bad panic everyday and wondered if anyone has gotten through it without meds. Sometimes i feel hopeless because i feel like ssri's don't work for me.

Holly, hi....I do not take anything for my panic and never have. I am still waiting on my program to come but a long time ago I borrowed my friends and it alone helped me. I am not advocating that anyone go without meds but I choose to not take them. I do lots of relaxation and meditate several times a day. I would rather do this on my own then depend on a drug. I wish you the best. We all know, on this forum, that we WILL get through this. I will keep you in my thoughts.........Pam

Hi Holly. You are so strong! I know you could just give it one more try with an SSRI. Tell yourself that you need this for a little while :) That this is not a lifetime commitment! The only real anxiety you get from the SSRI I feel is perhaps from your own fear of it. Best of luck!

I have not yet received my program trial, but I have recently made an appointment with a mental health specialist to maybe get pres. drugs, but I was not sure if I should be on the drugs and the program at the same time....

Hi Holli,

As of yet, I am not on any medication. I suffer from generalized anxiety, panic disorder and agoraphobia.

My doctor did mention maybe trying Paxil, but WE decided to give the program and herbal suppliments a try for another 3 weeks.

I am 1/2 way thru Session #4, and compared to where I was a month ago (housebound) I am doing remarkable. I know it will take time...

Good luck....

Hi Holly,

I tried to get through these many years of struggling with this without medication, but I am a person that can't. I need that little extra bit of help. However, this is just me, and everyone is different. I applaude anyone who can get through this without a little medication help!

Rob.

I did meds 7 different ssri's....even some anti psycotic meds..........nothing worked. The side effects were worse then the actual anxiety/panic. Since discovering gardening, the word of God.....something that positively occupies my mind so that it does not wander into negative territory I have been victorious in defeating the battle of anxiety/panic. Only some of the tools in this program helped but the main shift was keeping my mind busy and focused...keeping it absorbed by something peaceful and beautiful. In doing it did change my brain wave pattern. I had that shown on a biofeedback test...When needed before I did use xanax. As the program states anxiety/panic is not an illness. So how can an answer always be in a bottle? Majority of it is from stinking thinking. Now I take nothing.....Glory to God!

I totally understand, Emma Rose. Thats how I feel. . And thank you mel for havinf some faith in me. . I know that my fear of it makes it worse. . But it's because of the bad experiences I've had before. . How do I get past that and take the meds without fear? . . I think that I am mostly scared of ssri's because it says it can cause suicidal thoughts in young adults. . I am a young adult and thinking about that (even that word, even typing it makes me feel weird) makes me frightened. . But i told my therapist I want to do this without meds yet i feel hopeless because alot have not worked and he said that it is known that exercising can be just as affective as anti-depressants. That makes me feel better. He always makes me feel good. . But today i went to dr and she kept insisting me that i need to be on an ssri or I'll "always have this problem" I was like lady thats dumb to say because im sure alot pf people have beaten this without meds.. . i dunno. . Seahorse, what supplements do you take??

Holly, have you thought about a lose dose of xanax for the attacks. A half .5 mg works for me. This isn't an SSRI.

Holly,
What I take comes from Super Supplement store and is natural. I take two products from NatureCare. One is call Anti-Anxiety and the other is Mood Fix. They are both natural and have no side effects. They seem to help me. For me, I battle Anxiety and depression at what I would call a mid range. Don't know if they would work for you, but it might be worth a try. They aren't very expensive either. I tried a few other natural ones, but didn't work or didn't like how they reacted with me.

Best wishes on that!
