DEAR SVS:
Make the most important committment you could ever make - TO YOURSELF. Make the committment that there is NOTHING more important THAN YOU - yes you. Make the committment that there is nothing more important than you feeling better + being recovered + enhancing your quality of life!
Many folks ask, "but how". The wonderful thing is, when you REALLY make that committment to yourself - there is nothing that will stand in your way. You become like a horse w/ blinders on - focused & DETERMINED. Anxiety disorder will try & tell ya, "it can't be done" - However, THAT COMMITTMENT TO YOURSELF - lights that little fire in the pit of your belly(='g DETERMINATION) that, in turn, doesn't listen to anxiety disorder & says to itself(yourself) - I WILL FIND A WAY - I WILL FIGURE IT OUT - I AM DETERMINED - I WILL "MAKE IT HAPPEN".
You see sweetie, quite simply, once you make that committment to yourself - you will see it is you who has/is doing all the work - that it is you who figured out HOW - you who didn't settle for NO, IT CAN'T BE DONE - rather you who MADE IT HAPPEN - .
One thing I realized on my own journey to recovery is, I so undermined my own ability for far too many things. This was a LIFE LONG habit of mine - @ least until I had to take this journey to recover. Because I had an extreme state of SELF DOUBT - I sought the ANSWERS fr everyone but myself. It was not that I shouldn't have gotten help/ans's fr others - no. We can all learn fr someone/anyone. My problem was I ASSUMED, far too consistantly, that YOU/HIM/HER/THEY/THEM would always have the answers. Where in that equation is ME?
The journey to recovery fr anxiety disorder requires that you WORK HARD & I mean harder than anything else in your life. It requires you do the "footwork" so to speak: this PROGRAM + therapy maybe + research: reading books/magazines/internet info - anything that would empower you & your knowledge on this disorder + journaling, etc. ANYTHING & EVERYTHING it may take to get you out of the emotional prison anxiety disorder has placed you in. Is it hard?Yes. However, as LUCINDA herself says, "no harder than dealing/living w/ all the ABSOLUTE HELL anxiety disorder is. Both will create discomfort & heck, maybe a BAD WORD, lol - every now & then. Only 1 gives you recovery + personal freedom + liberation - the ability to EXHALE - cause you know you did it - you're free.
You will meet the most generous/compassionate/giving/friendly people here @ StressCenter.com. They will give you pointers & advice. However, until you tell yourself that's it - I've had enough of this anxiety disorder crap - I am recovering & make that committment to RECOVERY AS A WHOLE - what they say won't matter. It is YOU who truly has to WANT IT - wanting recovery like nobody's business. Once you do WANT IT, then doing the program will come naturally - because it is all encompassed in your DETERMINATION to RECOVER.
Remember this very simple phrase, CONSISTENCY ='S RESULTS That means, taking things 1 day @ a time - a little @ a time - EVERY DAY - w/ the PROGRAM. Not tomorrow/next week/month/year - TODAY, I CHOOSE TO do a little work on the program - no matter what, I/me am THE PRIORITY.
Continued recovery to you - YOU HAVE IT IN YOU - YOU ARE DOING IT - YOU ARE COURAGEOUS/BRAVE/SMART - trust that in you.
LENORE
