"Keep waking up."
That's a quote that a wise man once told me when I said "I just don't understand the WHY in life."
I can honestly say that that short and simple answer is ringing resoundingly true, day by day.
I am understanding better by and by because I keep waking up. I keep living. I'm only 28 years old but I'm continually understanding the WHY better and better.
NOW...
Writing out that thought was easy for me. Saying that in front of people (or an audience)... it might not come out as clearly as it sounds in this post. There will be some blanks drawn, there will be some stuttering, there will be some "oops... that came out wrong... what I meant to say was..."
If you read through some of my recent posts, you will see why. If you don't want to read through some of the recents, here's a brief explanation:
I was supressed as a child... didn't really have a sayso on anything... made to feel insignificant... wasn't really apart of any organizations or sports teams to build confidence, etc.... only male amongst a family of women... men were talked negatively about (dogged) in my presence... and the list goes on.
Therefore, one of my issues is, I have become an excellent communicator in writing out my feelings but a not-so-good communicator in speaking. Has anyone else had the same experiences as me? What has helped you overcome?
also, I believe some of your best novelist, writers, authors, journalist, artists, etc. are not-so-good speakers. I've also heard that people have gone into broadcast journalism and have become news anchors to overcome their speaking problems.
Any thoughts?
p.s. if you deal with this problem, read the book "A Child of Eternity". It's about a child with autism and her painstakingly, life long battle to verbally communicate herself. While reading that book I cried because I could identify with that little girl so much. She was an idiot savant trapped in a mind and body that crippled her expression skills.
Excellent writer... Not-so-good speaker/verbal communicator
