I'm wondering if anybody else who takes this medication is experiencing short-term memory loss. Ever since my dose was increased, I've noticed that I am having this problem. I also seem to not grasp what people are saying to me right away. I am currently on 1.5mg a day.

Thanks

Yes, when I was on it years ago it did affect my short term memory. So did Valium. My doctor told me it was pretty common.

I was on this drug for 6 months - thank god I am off of it!!! Within 15 minutes (was like clockwork) i would not be able to walk straight, slur words, and yes short term memory was GONE! It was the feeling like, did i just say that or did someone tell me about that. scared the crap out of me and thank god I do not take these meds anymore. bad detox but it is now over

Yes, I experienced all those effects. Xanax specifically I read has the same clincal effect as alcohol and is a CNS depressant. I take Klonopin now and want to get off of it because it is similiar to Xanax, which I had adverse reactions to such as your describing.
There is a Dr. Peter Breggin who has a number of books out and talk about the benzo class of meds and what they can do. If you google his name you should be able to find a bunch of stuff on him and his research.
